Throw everything in, hope for the best. 🙂

The tomato soup, out of the can was a little too sweet, The Mouse threw in a small scoop of miso paste. Yum. 🙂

“Santa” Snacks

‘Tis the season, The Cat and The Mouse’s house has snacks, more than usual. A good and kinda bad thing. Good that there are snacks, bad that there are snacks (temptation). Sigh.

“Belgian” Waffle

Whole Foods, The Mouse picked up when picked up the gray salt (last minute gift). Couple minutes in the toaster oven, good to go. 🙂

Coffee Shortbread Cookies (Bag)

“Spur of the moment” purchase. The Cat picked up from Foodland (when looking for a little something something for the trash collector).

Cookie

A pleasant surprise, crunchy and tasty. Nom. 🙂

Add water, bring to boil, clean and cut lettuce, simmer one or two minutes. Drip or three of toasted sesame oil to finish. Easy peasy.

Christmas Day Eats

“Breakfast” was just “coffee” for The Mouse.

Then, off to church.

Lunch, a take-out from nearby Zippy’s.

Chili Frank Plate Lunch

Vegetarian chili because of the corn and mushrooms.

Dinner, prix fixe at Umi by Vikram Garg.

Menu
Ahi Tartare

Apologies, the blurry photo, The Mouse got excited, hungry. 🙂

Pani puri, bonito shavings, wasabi tobiko. The pani puri was good crunchy support for the ahi tartare. Quantity was more than generous.

Lobster Bisque

Chef made The Mouse a salad instead (dairy issue).

Grilled Romaine with Squid Ink Tuile

Nom. The Mouse did not miss the bisque at all. 🙂

Scallop, Wild Mushroom Risotto

The Mouse’s bowl was dairy-free.

Branzino and Shrimp Balchao

Server warned dish was spicy. The Cat didn’t mind. Too spicy for The Mouse.

Wagyu Beef Cheek

Okra tempura, ‘ulu mousseline. Great braise, The Mouse thinks chef likes to cook beef cheeks. Good job. 🙂

Gingerbread Creme Brulee

The Mouse got a bowl of mango sorbet.

Mango Sorbet

Those that celebrate, hope your Christmas was full and merry. 🙂

Be well, eat well.
