Fish and Chocolate

No, not together, although, I would like to learn how to make a really good mole, then maybe? Hee hee.

Went back and got another piece of ono.

This time.

Ono in Mouse’s “Dashi” Broth

Sauteed, then poached, drowned, drunken, simmered (all semantics) in a water, shoyu, whiskey, mirin, and sea salt broth. Oh and canned mushrooms. The Cat ate.

Now for the chocolate.

Co-worker, originally from Russia via South Carolina (go figure), shared part of her homesick care package.

She ate them as a child. Nostalgia.

Not bad, better than the commercial stuff here. Thank for sharing.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Heading to more lab test (starting to feel like a pin cushion), bleh, and chiro, yay.

Picked up from the grocery store on the way home.

Ono Filet

Under $2! Cheap eats.

Medium heat, olive oil, approximately 4 minutes each side, finish with sea salt and a dash of mirin.

Nom! May go back today a see if The Mouse can get another piece.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Old Menu :(

The Cat’s lunch with client.

Ever since The Cat returned from the French Quarter, she’s been jonesing for po’ boy sandwiches.

Planned on a “rich-boy” (Tempura Oysters & Shrimp, Pickles, Slaw, Yuzu Kosho Tartar), think “upscaled” “po’ boy”.

Client also wanted to try their crispy shrimp gyoza.

Turns out the online menu is old (at least two chefs ago), rich-boy no longer offered, and crispy shrimp gyoza for dinner only. Boo!

They “settled” with …

Chopped Salad

Bacon, Tomato, Avocado, Parmesan, Garlic Shrimp, Asian Goddess.

The Mouse didn’t taste, but kinda sad looking. Just my opinion.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower

Golden Raisin, Pine Nuts, Balsamic. Dunno about the taste, The Cat didn’t say.

Win some lose some. At least update the menu. Sigh.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Not much going on, in the kitchen anyway. Not spring cleaning, summer cleaning? Pantry diving.

The Cat’s Bowl

Normal stuff. Noodles, mirin, seaweed, sea salt, white stem cabbage, fried tofu, edamame, black-eyed peas.

The Mouse’s Mess

Frozen vegetables, sardines, those Korean puffed grain thingies, you know, edible styrofoam? Actually, The Mouse is acquiring the taste for them. What’s next? K-drama? Don’t think so. Hee hee.

Peanut butter and mixed berry preserves (from Picnics from the Vine). To counteract “fishy” breath. 🙂

The Cat has a client lunch today. Maybe more exciting pictures to come?

Enjoy. Eat well.

Not much happening food-wise. Last night dinner. Thrown together whatever fit on the plate.

The Mouse Dinner

Leftover burger from Ruby Tuesday, pickles from Picnics from the Vine, frozen vegetables, orange, peanut butter sandwich. The Mouse liked. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
