An Abbreviated Post

We got home really late last night, church put on a “raise the roof” concert, extended work day. Good news is that they raised two-thirds of their goal, bad news is it cut into my posting time. Sigh.

Until I can get my pictures prepped, I leave you with this.

The Cat doesn’t always drink coffee. But when she does, she drinks …

Senior Coffee

Senior Coffee

Actually, her favorite (so far) is illy brand. More fine dining or sit down time. When she wants a morning kickstart, its senior priced coffee from the golden arches.

I promise to post something more interesting tomorrow.

Until then … stay caffeinated my friends. Hee hee 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Conveyor Belt Sushi

Or kaiten-sushi.

Yesterday’s weather, still blah, bleh, ick. Feels like a sauna, a really bad sauna.

Trying to figure out what’s for lunch. Good salad places or shave ice places weren’t on the route home. It was past lunch hour so maybe could get a stool at Genki Sushi.

Recently renovated, they’ve added the bullet train and race car levels to the conveyor belt.

You can order dishes using the touch screen tablets provided. Orders are served from the bullet train or race car directly to your seating. Cute ya?

Since it was soooooo hot. Lunch was “snack-sized”.

Did I mention I love pickled ginger (especially with braised pork belly, but that’s another post).

Fingerfood

Weather’s been humid, sticky, icky, bleh, not to mention the approaching (or passing) threat of hurricane(s) (one of the reasons for the stinky weather). Not the greatest atmosphere for culinary adventures.

Dinner was leftovers (stir-fried curried vegetables) with a couple of musubi.

The Cat brought home a box of Chinese pastries.

Filled with candied winter melon. Not bad.

“Rain, rain go away, come again someother day.” Humidity too! Sigh.

Enjoy. Eat well.

In this case, the early Mouse gets breakfast/brunch/lunch.

It’s the first week all schools are back in session. Morning rush hour is not “rush”. The Cat carpool has been leaving earlier to beat the “sitting in a parking lot” syndrome.

Got to the office a little too early (not allowed to start soooo early). What to do? Get food!

Happy Mouse

Happy Mouse!

Fried rice, scrambled eggs, luncheon meat, vienna sausage, and SPAM! Mmmm! Pork products. Ordered scrambled eggs this time, not over easy, planned to graze, not inhale, scrambled eggs hold up better over the long haul.

Not to worry, I did get my daily veggies.

Dinner was a “throw everything together, no recipe” deal.

Curried Veggies

Stir-Fried Curried Veggies

Celery, edamame, carrot, tofu, raisins, curry powder. “Dry” style, little sauce, no milk or coconut milk. The Cat liked.

For dessert, brought home two mochi someone brought to the office to share.

Mochi

Mochi

Dark chocolate truffle mochi and milk chocolate and chunky peanut butter mochi. Imagine if a Reese’s and sticky rice had a kid. Hee hee.

The Mouse liked both (and I’m not a serious mochi fan), The Cat was meh.

Happy Friday!

Enjoy. Eat well.

Weather here been crazy this summer. Tuesday afternoon, the sky opened up, Noah ark weather (not for 40 days tho, just a couple of hours).

Commuting traffic is a parking lot. Decide to pull into the nearest parking lot, get a bite, wait out the traffic.

End up here.

The place

(600 Kapiolani Blvd. Honolulu)

I think several other cars had the same idea, place was packed, not enough wait staff, wasn’t expecting the crowd.

Anyway …

One of The Mouse’s standby orders from small kid time. Eggs and chicken with onions simmered over rice.

Also ordered an onsen egg.

Onsen Tamago

Onsen Tamago

Slow cooked egg.

Got the dish confused with my favorite tamagoyaki (“grilled egg”), Japanese style omelet. Saw the “tamago” and got excited. The Cat ate this. Adding the slow cooked egg to my simmered egg would have just been overkill.

After eating, traffic cleared, drove home … zzzzz.

Stay dry.

Enjoy. Eat well.
