The Mouse, Kinda Back Online, Hospital Food

So, The Mouse is back home from the hospital. A bit of surgery. Choices were surgery or radiation. The Mouse did not want to turn into “The Incredible Hulk”, well in comic books maybe, but not in real life.

Only liquids on Thursday. Basically medically dehydrated and poked on Friday. Back to liquids (chicken broth, a bit of steamed rice) Friday evening, The Mouse did not ingest much. Too uncomfortable and no appetite.

Saturday was get up and walk (first time was wobbly), and a bit more appetite. Very little oils or seasoning.

Breakfast

Oatmeal, papaya, coffee, and ginger ale (nurses said the ginger ale helps settle the stomach).

Lunch

Chicken jook, vegetables, fruits, vitamin water.

So, my immediate goals are/were (from the nurses): stand up (check), walk (check) pass gas (happily check) and bm (still working on that one).

Going back to bed now. More later.

Liquid Diet

The Mouse drinks today.

Liquids

And coffee from the office.

Doctor imposed. If The Mouse had his way, there would be a bit of whiskey, whisky, and rum too. But The Mouse doesn’t think the doctor nor employer would approve. Hee hee.

Gelatin was also included on the list but The Mouse thinks too sweet. He might change his mind later if he feels the need to “chew” something.

Oh, and The Mouse has to go off-line for a few days. Might write about that later. Maybe.

A Riff on Smoked Salmon

Smoked salmon leftover from The Cat’s Sunday brunch (the detour).

The Mouse lightly toasted a mini naan flatbread, scrambled an egg, picked a couple leafs of shiso from the outside bucket.

Detour

The place we were planning for after Sunday farmers market was experiencing bathroom issues. So, a detour to the neighborhood “caffe”. The Cat and The Mouse were not disappointed.

The Mouse’s First Burrito

Don’t know why The Mouse hasn’t tried a burrito before. He does like wrapped things, lau lau, tamale, pastele, won ton, xiao long bao, etc.

Update: He has eaten the breakfast “burrito” from MickyD’s but he doesn’t count those.

Since The Mouse’s favorite neighborhood Mexican restaurant now closes on Sunday, he had to eat Saturday. The usual order is their Fiesta Bowl with carnitas or chile verde, but this time he ordered a burrito, and not just any burrito, their “grande”.

Shredded chicken and beef, beans, rice, salsa, and cheese (omitted by The Mouse’s request).

The Mouse has a new favorite dish! Nomz. 🙂

Next time though, The Mouse is going to request another selection besides the shredded beef, he thinks it was the weakest link. Maybe ground beef or if they would allow it, carnitas.
