Cacao = Chocolate?

The Mouse bought a jar of locally harvested honey with cacao nibs.

Jar

The Mouse tried the honey on a toasted frozen waffle.

Waffle, Devonshire Cream, Honey with Cacao Nibs

The Mouse mistakenly thought the cacao nibs would be chocolate-ty. The nibs were kinda crunchy, and in The Mouse’s opinion, not in a pleasant way. Also, the nibs were a little too bitter in taste, again, The Mouse’s opinion. Not flat out objectionable, but try once is enough. ๐Ÿ™‚

p.s. The Mouse also picked up a jar of honey with rum, hopefully it is better, will let you know.

Stay safe and well.

Still catching up with visit from The Cat’s schoolmate. Yum cha at Tim Ho Wan chain.

DEEP FRIED EGGPLANT WITH SHRIMP

Descriptions and Chinese writing from their website. Made it easy for The Mouse. Hee hee.

Mooncake

The Cat’s schoolmate brought over.

Mooncakes

The Mouse is not familiar with this type of mooncake (flaky, savory), The Mouse is more familiar with the denser and sweeter Cantonese variety. The Cat said these are from a different area/region (The Mouse forgot where).

The mooncake needed to be warmed, non-oiled non-stick pan, low-medium heat, fifteen minutes.

Inside

Spiced ground meat (pork?), and The Mouse doesn’t know what else. Pretty tasty. Mmm. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay safe and well.

Take-Out Eats

While playing “tourist”.

Spicy Ahi Poke Wrap
Shoyu Ginger Poke
Bowl of Ramen
Chasiu Rice

Because The Mouse avoids soup noodles in take-out containers, it’s just not the same.

Lilikoi Mead

Reminded The Mouse of hard apple cider, light and refreshing, welcomed after driving/sightseeing all day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay safe and well.

The Cat and The Mouse love chef’s choice dinners, especially when it is Chef H. We hope Chef H likes to do them too. Hopefully it lets him get a little creative and off menu. Dinner was last weekend with The Cat’s classmate.

Calf Liver “Dumpling”

In chicken broth. Chef asked us earlier if we eat calf liver, we replied yes. He made this dish, he said he didn’t want to overwhelm us. The Mouse could’ve eaten a whole bowl of this. Throw in some greens, some French bread, saimin, or rice and call it the meal. The Mouse would’ve been thoroughly happy and full. Hee hee. The Mouse wants to wrap the mixture in wonton wrappers and make wonton noodles. Mmm. Just a thought. ๐Ÿ™‚

Caesar Salad

Topped with extra anchovies. Mmm again.

Mussels

Everyone had a herb cream sauce, The Mouse got a tomato sauce. Both were so tasty, the bowls almost didn’t have to go through the dishwasher. Just kidding. Hee hee.

Salmon Course

The Mouse forgot the whole description (there was asparagus, noodles, tomato, and black truffle) but remembers it was soooo gooood. The Cat’s classmate never tried truffle before so The Mouse gave her his, there will be other dishes in the future. Right, Chef H? Hee hee.

Pork Chop with Foie Gras

With some kinda fruit sauce. Delicious. The Mouse hopes Chef H is having as much satisfaction creating these dishes as we are enjoying/scarfing them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cherries Jubilee

Tableside, with flames/flambรฉ and all. The Cat’s schoolmate was impressed.

Stay safe and well.
