Got to the grocery store a little too late for the complete Friday combo.

Friday Combp – Abbreviated

Chicken long rice – out, lomi salmon – out, sigh. At least the major components were available, lau lau and kalua pork.

The rice and sweet potato will go into The Cat’s bento next week. One less starch to deal with, maybe the haupia too.

Had a slight detour yesterday making The Mouse miss the complete combo. Did get two tea packets (from a co-worker) because of the detour though, long story.

From Volcano Winery. Because their output is so small, each packet price is pretty outrageous. Glad I didn’t buy it, But what’s it about looking gift horses in their mouths?

Sunday Lunch

Yeah, I know, time lag …

The Cat ordered the lunch special.

With lots of vegetables.

The Mouse, not that much into hot pots, ordered sides and a bowl of rice.

Both were very good. One sock off.

The Cat’s plate even had a piece of salmon.

Mystery Dried Vegetable

The Mouse’s typical recipe for this sorta thing. Everything into the pot (feet, vegetable, water, vinegar, liquor) and pray. Hee hee.

Turned out okay (The Mouse’s assessment).

Gelled up fine. Taste was okay, The Cat liked, herb-y (or is it herbie, hee hee).

Breadfruit “Hummus”

Another farmers market try.

Four flavors: regular, turmeric, dried tomato, and sweet potato. The Cat choose turmeric.

Triscuit and Breadfruit Hummus

Texture is smoother than chickpea hummus (not as “gritty”/”sandy”). The Mouse thinks the turmeric kinda overpowered the breadfruit taste. Still good. Next time try the dried tomato flavor.

New vendor.

Rice Factory

Import rice from Japan, mill rice in SPAM Land. Fresh.
