Sunday Dinner

The Cat’s still practicing. Too much food in the fridge (long story).

Sunday Dinner

Sunday Dinner

Clockwise from top left, stuffed Napa cabbage, ground pork with tofu (think ma-po tofu without the spice), stir-fried green beans, and egg with tomato.

The Cat got overly ambitious. Her assessment is that most of the dishes failed. Kudos to her for trying. She forgot one of the more important steps in cooking. Taste everything while cooking. Turned out on the bland side. Practice, practice, practice.

There’s always next time.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Around the corner from my temp office. What is “modern mexican kitchen”? I dunno.

Maybe by adding “modern” they can charge more.

As in “real” pork and beans, the dish could’ve had a bit more pork in it.

It was good though. Oh well.

Enjoy. Eat well.

As mentioned previously, the temp gig with Howie’s ended and a new gig started last week. The bad news, the new place doesn’t have the coffee amenities as Howie’s did (built-in Miele coffee machine). There’s only a regular coffee dispenser with so-so coffee. The good news, new eating opportunities.

The location where Howie’s is located, the lunch prices were a little rich for my blood. Understandably since the neighborhood the office is in is on the affluent side.

The new office is located in a mix of offices and workshops so the prices a slightly lower (a good thing), although there are food places that are upscale too. Look for posts of the new adventures in the months ahead.

Just a sample.

Supposedly, every Wednesday a vendor comes by the office selling bentos from his truck (like old-time roaming vendors). This one was Kalua pork and cabbage with Lau Lau. I would not say that the socks came off, but for cheap eats, pretty good (you get what you pay for).

Actually looking forward to exploring the area. Stay tuned.

Eat well,

Catching-Up

This week’s been kinda busy. The temp project at Howie’s ended. Another temp project began. This time with a very large privately endowed school (not sure I’m allowed to say the name). Project is scheduled last for 3 to 4 months. Been in training since Tuesday. In case you’re curious.

Just some pictures from last week.

Met P&B for lunch. Pizza.

White Truffle Pizza

White Truffle Pizza

Fresh mozzarella, Crimini Mushrooms, Garlic, White Truffle Oil. Inferno’s Wood Fire Pizza. Ordered by B. It was okay.

Guava Smoked Pork Pizza

Guava Smoked Pork Pizza

Fresh mozzarella, Local Shinsato Guava Smoked Pork, Fresh Mushrooms, Fresh Maui Onions, Locally Made Kilauea BBQ Sauce.

Ordered by The Mouse. Requested easy on the sauce (normally not a big fan of BBQ sauce on pork). This one was the bomb! At least one sock off. Pork was very nicely highlighted. A definite order again.

Later, we all hooked up with The Cat, Auntie M, and The Cat’s mother for dinner.

Maple Garden Restaurant. Over all, so-so. Used to be better. Owners said he has gone through a couple of chef changes. Maybe that’s the reason why. As always, it was more important to get together to talk and laugh.

Enjoy.  Eat well.

Anyways, gift from the cuz’s P&B.

Oink

Not sure if they think I’m a pig or because I prefer pork (especially the belly part) over beef or chicken. Oh well, at least it’s cute. 🙂

Hee hee.
