Odds and Ends

Still nothing much going on. The Cat had last-minute deadlines to attend to, The Mouse kinda in neutral gear.

The Mouse’s Breakfast

Raisin and vanilla sugar roll from one of the Japanese/French/German bakeries. Nom.

Fish Snack?

Not quite sure what the purpose of this food is for, snack?, condiment?, Dunno. Sent over from The Cat’s brother.

The Cat’s brother seems to like these little packages of stuff. Must be his busy work schedule and lotsa travel. Eats on the go.

The Mouse’s Lunch

That fish thingy (bottom left corner, leftover bread from The Cat’s lunch (with accompanying olive oil), canned spinach (The Mouse watched way too much Popeye cartoons small kid time).

The fish is slightly dried and spicy, over hot rice maybe, or substitute for chasiu in a soup noodle. Not bad.

Key Lime Pie

The Cat’s self-reward for dealing with the deadlines. The Cat will have to find another venue as Ryan’s Grill is closing next month. 😦

Blessings for a happy, healthy, and hopeful new year!

Enjoy. Eat well.

Friday Eats

Friday. Breakfast for The Mouse. The Cat’s “leftover” oatmeal (The Mouse cooked too much).

Oatmeal

Since The Mouse is not a big fan of oatmeal, he had to appeal it up with a dollop of honey.

Organic Hawaiian Honey with Cinnamon

The honey made the oatmeal more bread pudding-like. Hee hee.

Dinner, almost becoming a Friday tradition.

Lau Lau (or is it Laulau) Plate

From the supermarket down the street. The Mouse took the rice lau lau and lomi salmon, The Cat got the chicken long rice, Okinawan sweet potato, and haupia (under the lomi salmon).

It’s still the eve before New Year’s eve here in SPAM Land, I think we are one of the last time zones. Happy New Year’s Eve to everyone else.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Between Holidays

Not too much happening.

Pork Hock

Broth and meat for The Cat’s lunches and dinners. Nothing fancy, pork, water, vinegar. Broth jelled solidly. The Mouse could’ve made an aspic. Hee hee.

The Mouse’s Breakfast

Vegemite toast. Yum!

Enjoy. Eat well.

Mochi Rice Crackers

AKA arare.

Fried Peanuts with Seaweed

The Cat hauled back from her trip to Shanghai.

Prune Mui

Preserved with sugar, fermented lemon.

Tried Google, nada, must be a SPAM Land thing. Hee hee.

All very nom, at least according to The Mouse. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Epic Lunch Sequel

The eve before Christmas Eve. The Mouse got realigned, Did an errand for The Cat (picked up a box of chocolate dipped ginger for one of her clients). Had lunch.

But first, since The Mouse was at the store (buying the box of ginger chocolate) …

Chocolate Covered Oreo

A little treat for The Mouse. These are sweet. Can’t eat more than one or two a year.

Okay, on to lunch. I know, yum cha is supposed to be a communal eating event, and for most of the time, The Mouse agrees. But once in a while, it’s good to fly solo.

The Place

Just a few weeks ago the place was Good Fortune, oh well.

Not much change, food seemed the same.

Shrimp Dumplings
Pork, Mushroom, and Peanut Dumpling

.

Salted Pork and Preserved Egg Congee (Jook)

.

Spinach and Scallop Dumpling

.

The “Cha” part of “Yum Cha” 🙂

The Mouse usually can’t leave a dim sum meal without …

Egg Custard Tart

If The Mouse ever gets to Macao or Portugal, you know what he’s eating first. Hee hee.

After that, The Mouse went home to hibernate.

On a side note, The Mouse can’t leave an izakaya without ordering dashimaki tamago. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
