The Mouse was craving. He was trying to lay off the rice and especially the gravy, but … call it a cheat day. Hee hee.

Meatballs and Gravy Plate Lunch

Mmm! From the lunch wagon that stops by the warehouse. Six bucks! Not gourmet, gravy wasn’t the best, package maybe? Meatballs were decent. The Mouse even opted for green salad, no dressing to balance. Plate lunch served its purpose, cravings satisfied. Small-kid time hanabata days. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Co-worker has a tree.

A Plethora?

The Mouse took a few. 🙂

Finally learned how to peel these. Cut about an inch off the top, cut skin into sections, brute force.

In Process

The Cat helped to separate the edible meat from the inedible membrane.

The Reward

Not as juicy as other citrus but the little capsules? have a “popping” texture that makes them fun to eat. Think pop rocks or boba pearls. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Naan Mi?

Disclaimer: The Mouse in now way is trying to misappropriate any cultural heritage in this post. Not meaning to offend anyone in anyway. Just playing with his food.

The Mouse loves certain portions of banh mi sandwiches, the pate paste, the pickled turnip and carrot combo, not so much the bread. He used to like the bread, but as he got older, his jaw not as “shark-like” and the crust gets kinda scratchy in the mouth.

The Cat bought another package of mini naan bread from Costco, was on sale. The Mouse likes the naan, soft, easy to bite, easy to chew. Hmm, what about?

The Mouse made a trip to the Wednesday farmers market especially for a container of turnip and carrot pickles. Assembled the ingredient at home.

The Makings “Stuff”

Naan, shiso, pickled veggies, liver spread. The orange and raisin toast bread are dessert.

A slice or two of sliced ham for added support and additional pickles (Wine and Herb) from Picnics from the Vine, and The Mouse is done.

The Mouse’s Naan Mi Sandwich

Extremely nom! Think large bao bun, soft taco, banh mi, naan sandwich, kitchen sink. Hee hee.

Wine and Herb Pickles

The Mouse thinks the only thing missing was the Maggi seasoning sauce. That’s okay, sometimes the sauce, while tasty, can get a bit salty. Ohh, maybe a small shmear of vegemite next time.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Sunday, after farmers market, deciding where to eat, getting coffee at 7 Eleven. The Cat saw these.

Melona Bars

Got nostalgic, long story. Ate dessert first. Hee hee.

Melona Bar, Cat’s Paw

Melona bar and Mexican food, kinda go together? Right?

Chile Verde Fiesta Bowl

The Cat’s. Pork, tomatillo sauce

Chili Colorado Fiesta Bowl

The Mouse’s. Pork, rojo sauce.

Noms!

The Mouse is a newbie with hot sauces.

On the Table

The Mouse likes the Cholula brand. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Bone Broth

The last of the 9 pounds of pork bones The Mouse got/bought from the warehouse. Maybe the best of the lot, a few rib meat parts, and a couple of piggy tails.

After the par-boil, separated the rib meat and tails from the rest of the bones. Regular soup stock, water, bones, vinegar, whiskey.

The rib and tail pieces, whiskey, shoyu, dark soy, sesame seeds, ginger, bamboo shoot. Steamed.

Steamed Pork Bits with Bamboo Shoot

This is going into a future bento for The Cat.

The broth is base for The Cat’s dinner bowls.

Pork Bone Broth Vegetable Soup

With a piece of leftover roast duck, pork bones (for the marrow), cucumber, wood ear fungus, and celery.

Enjoy. Eat well.
