Tofu To Go

Bought at the supermarket.

Tofu To Go
Tofu

Soft tofu. Package came with a tiny folding spoon and a packet of shoyu. Cute yeah?

Ready to Eat

The Mouse liked. The Mouse won’t eat too often but once in a while … 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Saimin! :)

Probably The Mouse’s favorite type of noodle, must be from small-kid hanabata time. A quick lunch woud be a package of S&S saimin.

The Mouse’s lunch. Started with a container of Okuhara saimin (the other small-kid hanabata days brand).

Frozen Saimin

The containers are deluxe, notice the slices of luncheon meat (dunno if SPAM), scrambled egg, green onion, and fish cake (kamaboko).

The Mouse further “accessorized” his bowl, more SPAM (roasted in the toaster oven), wakame, okra, mixed vegetables. Instead of the flavor packet, too much salt, The Mouse seasoned with a little salt, black pepper, and low sodium shoyu, that way he controlled the salt content.

The Mouse’s Saimin

Oh yeah, the SPAM was the “lite” version too, less fat and salt.

The Mouse had a happy lunch. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Cucumber

Not too much happening food-wise. A quick cucumber salad for The Cat’s dinner.

Cucumber Salad

Peeled and salted the cucumber chunks. Drained and rinsed. Sea salt, black pepper (just a tiny bit), apple cider vinegar, drops of olive oil, and one drop of Cholula chipotle sauce (for zing).

Not smashed, no garlic.

The Cat still liked. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

The Cat had another errand on the west side of SPAM Land. Lunch at one of our “new” favorite locations. Mandalay Restaurant. They used to be downtown which was a hassle for The Mouse. They downsized and moved to the Kaimuki area. Accessible parking, less crowded. Yay!

Steamed Tripe
Eggplant (Mild)
Seafood Fried Noodles
Custard Tart

Appears that The Cat will be making semi regular errands in that area, The Mouse is looking forward to more visits. Mmm. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

The Mouse had another doctor’s appointment yesterday. Since he was in town, The Cat sent him on an errand. By the time The Mouse was finished, it was lunch time. Between lunch hour traffic, one way streets, and construction, The Mouse couldn’t get to a few places to take-out. Finally landed at Asian Mix, picked up a roast duck and char siu on rice plate.

Roast Duck, Char Siu, Rice, Choi Sum

Huge portion, reasonably priced. The Mouse barely ate a quarter. Half of the duck, about half of the rice, and a lot of the choi sum went into The Cat’s bento for the next day. Half of the duck and a few stalks of choi sum went to The Cat’s dinner noodle bowl.

Noodle Bowl

Along with spaghetti pasta and canned bamboo shoots.

Another quarter of the rice portion and the remaining char siu is for The Mouse’s lunch today. 🙂

Priced out, each portion comes to three dollars and change. Not bad, “cheap eats”.

Stay safe and well.
