A busy day before Easter. Worked at the chocolate shop.

No time for decent lunch, picked up dim sum from a nearby chop suey house.

I know, it’s not the chefs first choice, but I wanted something that they could just stuff in their mouths while working. Apparently it worked because they scarfed it down pretty quickly.

Waiting for The Cat to finish work. Had to have another lemonade with sour plum.

The last time, I ordered it at 70 percent sweetness, this time I went with 50 percent. Much better, less sweet, more salty sour (with a good balance of sweetness).

This time, went a little earlier and was able to get a cup of vanilla panna cotta (they were sold out the last time).

Granted, it’s not the gourmet (like the chefs would make), but for a little over a buck? A nice treat.

Lastly, got to take home two chocolate eggs (filled with jelly beans, almonds, and raisins). A treat for helping out.

Hope your Easter went well (if you celebrate the holiday).

Enjoy. Eat well.

Not fully formed yet. Give me a couple of days, need to first help the chefs with Easter baskets (the chicks are chirping and the bunnies are hopping, all in chocolate, of course).

A preview, of sorts, of things to come.

Clever Name

A Taiwan style tea/bobba drink shop recently opened near The Cat’s office.

1391 Kapiolani Boulevard, Suite 105, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Weird location, shares  parking lot with a used car company and an Italian take-out hole in the wall.

According to Yelp, their specialty is bobba milk teas. Their gimmick is that you can select the level of sweetness you want for your drink. They also give you a sample of your drink before serving you so that you can adjust the taste before getting your order (pretty smart if you ask me).

Since I’m not a big fan of bobba or milk teas (sorry V), I opted for a  small lemonade with sour plum.

If you look closely at the 12:00 and 8:00 positions on  the cup, you might be able to see faint outlines of Chinese dried plum seeds (us locals would call them “ling hing mui” or “crack seed” not cracked seed) floating in  the lemonade.

The drink reminded me of a wu mei drink I had in China. Socks came off. Definitely would order again.

Only problem is the place was packed and the crowd was definitely young and hip (while I’m proudly an oldie and unhip). I guess take-out is okay.

Another late night waiting for The Cat … ‘night … zzzzz.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Tool vs ???

As first compared here. The chefs and I differ in opinions about kitchen knives. I get the hunch their knives are just tools to them. Case in point. Their favorite utility knife

Chefs' Utility Knife

Notice there is about an inch missing from the tip (from dropping the knife point first on the tile floor). They refuse to get another one because “it still works”. Uhm, okay.

In comparison, my utility knife.

Five inches, all five inches are still intact.

What’s the point (pun intended)? I dunno, got home too late to post anything of relevance (but then again, my little twittering are rarely relevant anyway). And the mall food tonight was hardly worth mentioning (so I won’t).

Hopefully I will get something of interest to post tomorrow. “After all, tomorrow is another day.” Sorry, must have been channeling Scarlett O’Hara. Hee hee.

Better quit while I’m ahead.

Eat well. ‘night.

More Mall Food

Still helping The Cat at her office,  on a part-time basis. These dishes (from the past couple of days) were actually pretty good. Not gourmet by any standards but very decent (by my standards).

Mostly brown rice, texture was too “soft” for a burger but taste was there.

Enjoy. Eat well.
