The Cat and The Mouse try someplace “new”. Mangiamo by 604. Mainly Italian cuisine. Restaurant advertised an all-you-can-eat soup and salad special. The Mouse couldn’t find what soups were available but decided to go for it. Background, The Cat likes the soup and salad all-you-can-eat at Olive Garden.

The choices were Italian salad, Caesar salad, zuppa toscana, and tomato basil. Both soups contain dairy. Sigh.

The Mouse was mindset on soup and salad. Plan B. The Mouse ordered a burger.

604 Burger

Well made, the fries were bomb, the burger was above decent.

The Cat went with the all-you-can-eat soup and salad.

Salad, Soup

The Cat tried both soup selections (zuppa toscana, tomato basil), while both were good, she preferred the zuppa toscana.

Dessert was tiramisu, recommended by the server.

Tiramisu

The Mouse liked (after taking lactase enzyme pills), The Cat was more meh.

Be safe, eat good.

Chef H chose Assaggio Bistro for his birthday dinner. Good thing he choose. What would happen if The Cat or The Mouse chose wrong. Hee hee.

Wine

Chef’s choice.

Antipasto
Deep Fried Calamari
Daily Fish Special

The Cat’s order. Sauteed monchong fish with half pasta and half vegetables. Mmm!

The Mouse went lighter.

Anchovy Sauce over Vegetables

No pasta by choice. ‘Tis the season. Hee hee.

The Mouse likes anchovies. Hee hee. Mmm! 🙂

The Cat and The Mouse are not so familiar with Chef H and M for The Mouse to take pictures of their food. Hee hee. Chef H ordered veal Marsala and M ordered chicken putanesca. Both looked yummy. 🙂

Be safe, eat good.

Anytime Cafe, posted previously, closing in about a week.

The Cat wanted to try their baked pork chop before you know. The dish was also kinda recommended by my urologist. I know, go figure. Hee hee.

Baked Pork Chop

Rice, pork chop, lots of cheese, side salad and cheesy garlic bread. Not bad, The Cat was glad to try.

The Mouse decided on a rice plate, noodles would be harder to doggy bag home.

Mixed Plate

Rice, “gravy”, tendon, pig feet, choi summ. Both meats well cooked, the tendon super soft, the pig feet easy to eat. A portion went home for The Cat’s bento. The pig feet bones made a broth for The Cat’s dinner.

We asked why the restaurant was closing, lease issue.

Fare thee well Anytime Cafe.

Be safe and well.

Plan “C”

Zia Cafe, new owner (about a year now), new chef (same time). When the changeover happened, The Cat and The Mouse were a little discombobulated. Some staple menu items were dropped, items were added with higher cost. The chef use to run the kitchen at a high-end wine bar, his menu mods kinda reflected his past pedigree. (The Mouse’s opinion).

For dinner, The Cat and The Mouse were heading to the neighborhood Japanese/Pho restaurants (one of our go-to’s) but they closed for the holiday. Sigh.

Plan B, chop suey house. But we were last there last week.

Plan C, a detour. Zia Cafe. Try try, revisit.

Penne Pasta Primavera

Penne Pasta Meat Sauce

Good basic bowls. The Cat and The Mouse’s new strategy for the cafe, stick to the basics, not the fancy stuff.

Highpoint of the dinner was the desserts.

Ube Cookies and Cream Gelato & Strawberry Guava Sorbet

One with dairy, one without, Mmm!

Be safe and well.
