Adventurous Sunday, part I.

A few minutes before dinner reservations, nearby Filipino bakery.

Door

It’s a significant step up, hence the many caution signs.

Fresh and warm Spanish rolls (and more). πŸ™‚

Noms

Spanish rolls, Ube rolls, brownies, oatmeal cookie. Noms. πŸ™‚

First time for The Cat eating a fresh and warm Spanish roll. Paws up.

Location

Half of the menu Spanish cuisine, half of the menu Italian cuisine. SPAM Land does not have many Spanish restaurants, The Cat and The Mouse wanted to try. πŸ™‚

Wall Decoration

Bold.

Location used to be a bank, then a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, now a Spanish/Italian dining spot. Go figure.

Vault Door

The Mouse guesses vaults are hard to remove? Hee hee. Depending on the size, might be a great private dining room or speakeasy spot. Just saying. πŸ™‚

More about the food next time. This post is just the teaser. πŸ™‚

Be safe and well.

Bistro Eats

Place

Restaurant is one town over from where The Cat and The Mouse live. Always thought restaurant was just a bit far.

But, the neighborhood Italian “caffe” changed owners, and the bistro over in the next town became more attractive.

Garlic Toast

Roasted garlic, toast, diner interactive.

Tri-Color Tomato Salad

Lobster Ravioli

The Cat made three meals from the dish. Very rich.

Lemon Sorbet, Tiramisu

The Cat nibbled on the tiramisu and had the rest for breakfast the next morning.

The Mouse ordered chicken cacciatore for his dinner and somehow deleted the pic. Dish was good.

Maybe the new go-to spot for Italian cuisine.

Be safe and well.

The Cat came home early. Plan was neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Take-out only. Second choice, Italian a couple of doors down. The Mouse was having a tiny bit digestion issue, didn’t want to exacerbate with any dairy ingredient. Ordered safe.

Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce

The Cat ordered the daily special, breaded deep-fried braised pork belly, duck confit beans, andouille sausage, kale, pickled red cabbage.

Daily Special

Wait, wait, the pork belly is a version of pork tonkatsu. Hee hee. The Mouse was momentarily confused. Italian or Japanese or fusion. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Yesterday was the first day The Cat could sleep in (need to recover from a brutal tax season). Impromptu “hunt” for food. First choice was a 2 hour wait. Nope.

The Cat has always wanted to return to Baci Bistro. Took a chance. One hour wait, unless we were willing to sit at the bar. Go for it.

Sat right in front of the cold prep station (think sitting at the sushi bar).

Produce

.

Bar, Cold Prep, Kitchen

Super tinyΒ space. One of the chef was even gracious to provide shaka. Hee hee.

Bruschetta

The Mouse thinks one of the better ones he has had in a while.

The Cat’s Risotto con Gamberetti e Piselli

Think Italian jook with shrimp and peas and cream and cheese. The Cat liked.

The Mouse’s Bucatini alla Puttanesca

With extra sauce (The Mouse is a product of public education). Hee hee.

Rustic, earthy, spicy, packed with umami (think Italian Ma Po Tofu, kinda). And the myth behind the recipe is interesting as well.

Yelp had a picture of Key Lime Pie. Wasn’t a dessert selection last night. The Cat sighs.

Chocolate Decadence Cake

The dense part they got right, tasted flourless to The Mouse.

Next time we go back, either make reservations, go earlier, or sit at the bar again. The Mouse wouldn’t mind sitting at the bar again, free kitchen and prep show. πŸ™‚

Enjoy. Eat well.
