Tart :o

This past weekend Costco run. A box of Granny Smith apples on sale. Green apples usually for pie, The Mouse try try (not for pie, for eating).

Red Grapes, Granny Smith Apples

The apples are tart compared with The Mouse’s usual Fuji or Gala, not lemon or lime pucker lips tart/sour, doable/edible. End result is the same, fiber. Hee hee.

Be safe and well.

The Mouse, late-night internet browsing, new-ish “noodle shop”, Fun Factory. The Cat’s stomach has been a little wonky lately. The Mouse thought this restaurant might be good to try and also be “safe” for The Cat’s stomach.

Rice Bowl

The Mouse had to try their signature dish, flying noodles.

Flying Noodles

Funn noodles suspended over spicy ground pork, corn, and shredded cucumber.

The illusion.

The Illusion

Metal pole with two holes at the top to fit the chopsticks, noodles draped over the chopsticks. Conversation starter for sure. The illusion reminds The Mouse of those floating human street performers. Good to try. 🙂

Another “novelty” series of dishes is the restaurant’s “rice buckets”.

The “Bucket”

The Cat ordered the pork rib option.

Pork Rib Rice Bucket

The pork was cooked through well, but because the pork was second cooked by deep-frying, the outside was a little tough for The Cat. The inside was tender and moist. The Mouse took the leftover ribs and sacrificed the crispy texture, steamed the ribs for an hour or so to soften them up for The Cat’s bento.

Julia Child’s philosophy, everything can be fixed. Hee hee.

The Cat wants to return to try their funn noodles in soup. The Mouse wants to return for their won ton. 🙂

Be safe and well.

Beet Powder

The Mouse bought a container of beet powder from a “dress for less” store. Go figure. Hee hee.

Texture was a little powdery, not too offensive. Taste, a little earthy, little sweet. Funny, taste kinda reminded The Mouse of artificial strawberry powder for milk, except not so sweet.

Try try. Hee hee.

Be safe and well.

Stir Stir Stir

The Mouse bought off of the clearance shelf at the grocery store, if he remembers, more than half off.

Almond Butter

The oil separated from the solid. The Mouse stirred for at least half an hour. Workout for the day. Hee hee.

Not enough cinnamon. The Mouse added a couple of teaspoons and stirred some more, another ten minutes at least.

Spread on toast.

Almond Butter on Toast

Verdict: Will this replace peanut butter? Uhm, no. But, a good try try. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Salmon Rice

The Mouse saw this dish on the internet and was intrigued. Steamed rice, cooked salmon (almost in the consistency of dry canned tuna), various condiments.

The Mouse saw a bento bowl on the way home and try try for The Cat.

Salmon Rice

Some eaters on the internet used the dish as a basis for chasuke, some just ate the dish as is. The Mouse made a simple broth of chicken bouillon, napa cabbage, and wakame. The Mouse also toast/roasted some Brussels sprouts.

The Cat liked. 🙂

Stay safe and well.
