Heard that Yauatcha in SPAM Land will be closing at the end of the month. Aww! While not an everyday restaurant (the prices were kinda steep). The Cat and The Mouse did like the place as a “treat”.

The Cat wanted to visit one last time (maybe).

Crispy Duck Salad

With pomelo, pomegranate and pine nuts. A fave.

Crispy Duck Salad, Top View

.

Leftover Crispy Duck Bun

Enough leftover for The Mouse’s din din. 🙂

Spicy aubergine, sato bean, okra and long bean
with peanut and dried shrimp

The #1 fave of The Mouse. Gonna miss this dish. May attempt at home.

Kona Coffee Gelato, Pineapple Yuzu Sorbet, Banana Lilikoi Gelato

To end the meal.

The Cat hinted she may want one more visit before closing, hope it’s not to close to the end date, might be a disappointment.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Breaking from the Sunday routine. Eating after farmers market.

http://www.theolena.com/

Not typical golf course menu.

The Cat’s Order

Herb grilled salmon – Sautéed vegetables, rice, topped with ginger-pesto. Nicely grilled, moist.

The Mouse’s Order

Lechon Kawali – Crispy fried Locally raised pork belly, citrus soy, Maui onions, Ho farm tomatoes, served with rice & tossed greens.

Nom!

Crispy pork, seasoning not too vinegar-y. Repeat worthy. Four paws.

The Mouse now has two places on the windward side to get his pork belly fix. Mama’s Kitchen and here.

No Mudd pie here, but …

Gelato and Sorbet

Green tea, acai, strawberry guava. Big scoops.

Be back soon. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

??? years ago, The Cat landed on SPAM Land, fresh off the plane (FOP). Hey if IHOP can become IHOB, then … Hee hee.

So, since yesterday was “Independence Day”, we decided to also celebrate The Cat’s “independence day” at Yauatcha.

Rooibos Tea

.

Condiments

Shoyu, chili sauce, pickled cucumbers, XO sauce. The Cat went for the XO sauce.

Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Almonds

.

Hand Pulled Noodles with Mushroom

.

Spicy aubergine, sato bean, okra and long bean
with peanut and dried shrimp

One of The Cat and The Mouse’s favorite dishes here.

Crispy Duck Salad

with pomelo, pomegranate and pine nuts.

Chocolate Pebble

Like a chocolate mousse thingy? Not too sweet. The white lump we think is yogurt.

Pineapple Sorbet, POG Sorbet, Kona Coffee Ice Cream

POG, passion fruit, orange, and guava. The next generation’s fruit punch. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

By the Sea

Dinner. 53 by the Sea. Hawai‘i slash Mediterranean cuisine? Hmm.

Table View

Fully expected Jack Lord to be at the next table, in essence anyway. And The Ventures rocking in the bar. Okay The Mouse totally carbon dated himself. Hee hee.

Choya Ume Soda

Light, slightly sweet, good for summer.

Bread Dipping Oil

The oil was olive oil, but The Mouse got confused about the dark liquid, shoyu? truffle something? truffle shoyu? Salty and umami-ish.

Two types of rolls “plain” and black olive ciabatta. Plain went better with the dipping oil than the olive.

Escargot Stuffed Mushrooms

Spicy Tomato Cream, Crispy Crostini. The Mouse liked more than The Cat, she preferred Michel’s (more traditional garlic butter). The Mouse just needed a bowl of rice and a fried egg (escargot loco moco?). Hee hee.

Mahi Mahi

The Cat’s entree. Moromiso Macadamia Nut Crust, Kombu, Sauteed Local Vegetable, Clam Jus. Dish was good, could’ve used a touch more umami. A dash of shoyu maybe?

Roasted Duck

The Mouse’s order. Cranberry Walnut Honey Glaze, Asparagus, Sweet Potato, Lilikoi Demi. Well prepared, perfectly seasoned. Could’ve left off the lilikoi demi, just my opinion. The Mouse’s one minor “complaint”, skin wasn’t crispy (wasn’t supposed to be). Next time, The Mouse gonna bring his own torch. Hee hee.

Gelato/Sorbet Trio

Raspberry, Lilikoi, and Chocolate/Vanilla Hazelnut, with berries! Excellent.

Complimentary Dessert

Strawberry Shortcake with more berries.

The Famed Staircase

Shades of Rhett Butler? Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
