Randomness

Not too much happening in the kitchen this week, for a variety of reasons.

BBQ Tofu

From the campus grab-n-go shop. Not bad, I think the tofu was baked. Too bad they didnʻt put a little char on it. I know the kogi bit wouldʻve brought out flavor and texture.

Tomato and Egg

For The Catʻs lunch. Still trying to perfect the dish. Might take a lifetime.

Tomato and Triscuits

A dab of butter and a touch of Vegemite. See told ya not much happening in the kitchen.

Oh well.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Practice … Practice …

This week’s tomato and eggs trial.

Tomato and Eggs

Tomato and Eggs

Much more normal than some previous trials (and errors). This time drained some of the tomato liquid during cooking. The eggs were hybrid between Chef Gordon Ramsey style and Chinese style. Seasoning of coconut milk (just a teaspoon or so), salt, pepper, sugar, whiskey, and a drop of shoyu.

At least the dish is looking more “restaurant” like, not sooooo soupy.

Haven’t tasted yet. Cooked more for The Cat’s lunch for tomorrow and Tuesday.

Just a quickie for now.

Enjoy. Eat well.

A spontaneous “eat out” suggestion by The Cat. Just made it to one of our current favorite neighborhood spots, Zia’s (on the dot). Server could have said we were too late (wouldn’t have faulted her, traffic was terrible), but she gave us a ten-minute window to order past the happy hour close (extra tip).

In the rush, The Cat ordered the appetizer.

The Cat not used to fruit and cured meat together. Not her palate. That’s okay, The Mouse deconstructed it, ate the fruit for dessert, took the Prosciutto for lunch. Win-win.

Since no time to prep The Cat’s lunch, ordered a little bit more for planned leftovers.

Tomato, Basil Soup

Happy hour price, $1.00 for a cup!

Pear and Blue Cheese Salad

Mixed greens, bleu cheese, pear, mac-nuts, red onion, red wine vinaigrette.

Penne Primavera

Penne Primavera

Zucchini, mushrooms, beets, bell pepper, sun-dried tomato pesto.

The Mouse’s, see, still on track with the “eat more veggies” goal. 🙂

Mushroom Risotto

At the end, I think we saved at least $6.00 at happy hour prices. Good deal!

One more day until the weekend, woo hoo!

Enjoy. Eat well.

The official season of indulgent eating has passed. Time to think about eat simpler and lighter. Dinner last night, whole wheat roll, sliced tomato, lemon basil (from our herb pot), and a little vegetable oil spread.

Tomato and Basil Sandwich

Very tasty, no salt added. Didn’t even taste like I was depriving myself.

Enjoy.

Dunno if I mentioned this before, one of my favorite vegetable combinations, okra and tomato. This time, stir-fried okra and tomatoes (currant variety), seasoned with sea asparagus (no additional salt).
