Nest door to Sunday’s steak take-out is a boba tea shop (same owner). While The Cat and The Mouse were waiting for the steak order, took a peek next door.

In addition to boba drinks, the shop also offered Taiwanese snacks and bentos. The Cat ended up ordering a pork and bamboo bento for weekday lunch.

Braised Pork with Bamboo Bento

Vegetables (various) and a tea egg. Nice spread. The Cat left a little of the pork for The Mouse to try.

The Mouse’s Bowl

Rice, pork, tomato, and carrot. Mmm. Although the pork was on the lean side, it wasn’t dry, the shop did a good job with the braise.

Stay safe and well.

Still looking for “good” mapo tofu, The Cat. Granted, we don’t really know the “authentic” taste of mapo tofu, but The Cat has a taste in mind.

Going back to L&R Drive In to see if their taste is what The Cat is thinking of.

Cheap Eats.

Plate #1

Grilled pork chop and mapo tofu. Taste is what The Cat had in mind. In no way “authentic”, no Szechuan peppercorn for example, and not too spicy, however, The Cat liked.

Plate #2

Beef tomato and grilled chicken. Mmm.

Cheap eats. Two dinners, two and a half bento (The Mouse got the half). Good deal!

Stay safe and well.

Soup and Salad

Chef H’s restaurant back to doing take-out again after mayor ordered lockdown (no sit down restaurant service) for at least two weeks. One positive is Chef H’s food is a little more wallet accessible, and available (lunch hours added).

The Cat’s Saturday lunch by Chef H.

Wild Mushroom Chowder

A touch of cream, a splash of sherry wine.

Cobb Salad

Red wine & buttermilk dressings, iceberg & romaine lettuce, blue cheese, tomato, avocado, local egg, bacon bits.

The Mouse had a lazy day and took catnaps. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.
