New place in town (not town town, neighborhood town)

Never got to try their “all you can eat meat” in town (town town).

New place as a “vacuum” vent to suck up the table cooking fumes. Utensils are self serve in drawers attached to the tables, funny.

Problem is, for the all you can eat option, minimum two people. Too much meat for The Cat. Maybe I’ll ask M next time, think she’ll be up for an “all you can eat meat” event.

Ordered mild and still spicy for The Cat.

Since no dessert at the place, went around the corner to a Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt shop (or is it shoppe).

Up until today, if I’m hunting for lunch, I usually head west (food places are closer). Ran an errand today heading east and found this.

Lunch Wagon!

Lunch Wagon!

Selection looked interesting, and they had the all important health department inspection.

Notice that the notice is posted next to instructions on how to wash hands? Just sayin’.

Ordered their spicy pork.

Spicy Pork on Shredded Cabbage, Brown Rice, and Tossed Salad, Oriental Dressing

Cooked to order (a good thing), had to wait about 10 minutes (a not so good thing). Luckily my work schedule has an extended break between morning and afternoon (it’s complicated).

Brown rice, cooked correctly (soft but still “al dente), tossed salad with tomato and cucumber (a good thing), spicy pork, marinated in soy sauce, sugar, and Gojujang (just the right amount of spicy), raw shredded cabbage to soak up the meat drippings (almost a dish in itself). Four paws up, socks off.

As an added bonus, the wagon is associated with a local rehab center (job training?). So ate well and did well (in a small, distant sort of way).

BTW, the wagon has four and a half stars on Yelp. Not bad at all.

A new spot on the approved lunch list. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

We ventured into Waikiki today. We rarely visit Waikiki. The lack of parking or the high cost of parking are one of the reasons. However, we were given a twenty-four hour validation and were reimbursed for the minimum fee, so we decided to seek lunch after our business.

Our host suggested here.

Jinroku (2427 Kuhio Avenue, Honolulu, Hawai’i). Not on the main drag, wouldn’t have found it on our own, our host walked us over.

In our opinion,  dinner is a little pricey, but they offer plate lunch specials.

The Cat ordered grilled salmon, The Mouse ordered spicy pork. Since the prices were reasonable given we were in Waikiki, we also ordered the vegetarian plate (for veggies).

I don’t know what I was thinking about my spicy pork, but when the chef brought out thinly sliced belly pork and threw it on the flat-top, I started to get excited.

Pork Belly!

Pork Belly!

Sorry, the picture just doesn’t do the belly pork justice.

Grilled Salmon

The Cat thought the fish was a little overcooked. While the salmon could have been rarer, I thought it was okay.

Spicy Pork

Spicy Pork

Belly pork, grilled with kimchi, fried egg, on a bed of rice. Side greens and macaroni salad. Socks off. I would definitely order this again. Better yet, I think I can make this at home. No flat-top, but I think this will work on the fry pan.

Best part of this dish was the grated turnip on top of the tofu. Good amount of veggies.

Everything under thirty dollars, in Waikiki. relative cheap eats.

Enjoy. Eat well.
