The Mouse’s “throw everything in and hope for the best” bowl.
Soba noodles, wakame, dried mushroom, frozen carrot, wood ear fungus, and fishcake. Mmm! 🙂
Be safe, eat good.

Or, making space in the refridge. First, The Mouse used the other half of the onion for his lunch.
Lightly caramelized red onions, water, wakame, soba noodles, sea salt. No recipe, throw in and pray. Hee hee. Turned out pretty good. Vegetarian, comfort food. The Mouse was hoping the colors would be more vibrant (springy), but the onion color dulled. Still tasty though.
Nothing special except for the shiso leaves. 🙂
Stay safe and well.

Back in the day when The Mouse could digest diary, one of his favorite pasta was carbonara. But with age, the dish is now forbidden.
The Mouse, playing in the kitchen. Crispy SPAM, soba noodles, olive oil, frozen broccoli, wakame, salt and pepper to taste.
In The Mouse’s opinion, tossing the drained soba noodles (and still hot) with olive oil immediately after cooking was key. The Mouse enjoyed.
Completely different from pasta carbonara but … 🙂
Wondering … next time maybe adding natto to the mix. Hee hee.
Stay safe and well.

No, not the malicious kind. Slurpy kind. AKA The Mouse’s instant noodles.
Okay, not so instant, but fast enough.
No saimin in the freezer, soba instead, enough SPAM for each slurp of noodle, Szechuan preserved vegetable, no dashi packet (the SPAM and Szechuan preserved vegetable provided enough flavor to make the dashi), and frozen mixed vegetables (a nod to the vegetables in instant cup noodles).
A dash of wasabi sesame seed at the last-minute. The Mouse thinks his brother from another mother, Mr. G first introduced The Mouse to these little sprinkles of wasabi wow-ness. Definitely not The Cat’s bowl of noodles. Hee hee.
Let the slurping commence. 🙂
Happy holiday, if you are so lucky.
Enjoy. Eat well.

Lunch.
Campus food service is kinda back, full service starts next week. Weather was relatively cold today. Needed soup.
Mmm! Less greasy than normal Chinese roast duck (not to be confused with crispy Beijing duck). Tasty!
Dried shrimp, seaweed, and dried mushroom dashi, tofu cubes, cabbage, soba and somen noodles. One of those throw everything in and hope for the best dishes. 🙂
Pumpkin bread, margarine, mizuna, salt. Think cucumber sandwich but more … “rustic”. Hee hee.
Enjoy. Eat well.
