Yesterday was another order lunch day from one of the warehouse’s customers. The Mouse wasn’t going to order, the prices were kinda up there, but the controller is picking up the tab for the accounting staff this week.

To The Mouse, the taste was more teriyaki than miso, oh well, free lunch for The Mouse. 🙂

The warehouse is also trying to market a new brand of coconut milk. One of the managers made bread pudding with haupia sauce. The Mouse got to sample.

So, yesterday, we had to do some shopping. Lunchtime came around and we were not near The Cat’s office nor Chinatown (our regular eating areas). There was a Chinese buffet place we used to go to but their prices have gone up at least 50 percent (no longer a good deal). There was a newish Korean cook-your-own place that was just a little less expensive, Yakiniku Camellia Buffet (4510 Salt Lake Boulevard, Honolulu, Hawaii).

I didn’t think The Cat would go for the yakiniku place, too much meat, too much beef, not  enough veggies. In addition, at other yakiniku places, she doesn’t like the old cooking smell that sometimes accumulates when cooking on an open grill. But this place has large exhaust hoods over each table and it’s still kind of newish (less residue build-up).

Kal-bi, Bulgogi, and chicken. The only pork they had was spicy pork, too spicy for our taste.

Bean sprouts, choi sum, fried chicken, imitation crab and broccoli salad, pickled onions (yum), fish jun, fried mondoo, etc.

Two noteworthy things came out of lunch. One, The Cat likes kal-bi, more specifically, the kal-bi bone portion. Usually, after about one piece of meat, The Cat starts fussing about too much meat, but yesterday, she downed about three or four pieces of the bone portion of the short ribs (kal-bi), I think it was a record.

The other noteworthy item was my taste of spicy miso paste.

Surprisingly, I have not tried this before. I think it’s miso paste and chili. Not real spicy, Just right. Did not use it on the meat (it was already seasoned enough), but with the fish jun, fried chicken, and white rice. Quite addictive. My new favorite dipping sauce.

From The Cat, the Chinese fermented rice dessert is called jiu niang 酒酿.
