Yeah, I know, time lag …

Across the street from the farmers market location.

Ichiriki

Hot pot.

The Cat ordered the lunch special.

Wagyu Beef and Ground Chicken

With lots of vegetables.

The Mouse, not that much into hot pots, ordered sides and a bowl of rice.

Spicy Tuna with Crispy Seaweed

And

Mushroom Medley

Both were very good. One sock off.

The Cat’s plate even had a piece of salmon.

The Cat’s Bowl

And dessert.

Green Tea Shave Ice

Lots of shave ice. 🙂

The Cat liked it enough to add to the list of “can return” places to eat. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Recently, The Mouse’s Fridays are long. Waiting to carpool with The Cat.

Lately, the weather has been really humid, high eighties, low nineties. Ugh.

Thought about lunch at Rainbow Drive-In but seating is outside. Eww!

Tried the alternative instead.

Right next door

Right next door

A collaboration between Rainbow Drive-In, KC Waffle Dogs, Shimizu Shave Ice, Mike’s Huli Chicken, and Poke Stop. With air conditioning. 🙂

I think because of the space limitations, the menus (except for shave ice) is truncated. I know Rainbow Drive-In’s menu so passed this time. Went for Mike’s Huli Chicken, KC Waffle Dogs, and Shimizu Shave Ice (of course).

So, I know it’s huli chicken, but they also offer …

Huli Pork Char Siu Plate

Huli Pork Char Siu Plate

A no brainer. Plus, notice the “correct spelling? With brown rice option and steamed vegetables. Socks off!

Not dry, still moist, yet not super tender, very good texture.

A waffle dog.

Waffle Dog

Waffle Dog

As good as small-kid time hanabuta days. 🙂

And to help cool off …

Shave Ice

Shave Ice

Plain, no ice cream nor red bean, green tea, mango, and strawberry syrup. Slurp.

Good texture. Not so fine like the current “snow” trend. Icey. Yum.

Will be back. Maybe for the boneless chicken and gravy, drool. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Cat had a dinner meeting yesterday. The Mouse was left to his own devices. The choices were pulled pork sliders and tofu salad at Habitant @ Nordstrom, Something from Burgers and Things, or Prince Court @ Waikiki Prince (we have a Kama‘aina Card).

Decided on Prince Court (pake decided on the discount).

Menu

Didn’t want to drop for the buffet, can’t eat that much too often, must be getting old.

Condiments

Cute yeah? Personal sized, I took home the ketchup and mustard (they toss it anyway).

Beside the discount, the other deciding factor was this.

Shave Ice, ice Cream, Azuki Beans, Fruit, Syrup

Big time nom! 🙂

Dinner was light.

Not all together.

Saturday, The Cat still dealing with difficult clients and crisis files. Not as bad as tax season, but still bad.

The Mouse, some play, some work.

“Breakfast” was remnants of The Cat’s lunch on Friday.

Pork Roast with Pesto Stuffing Mashed Potato Sauteed Spinach

Roast Pork Belly with Pesto Stuffing
Mashed Potato
Sauteed Spinach

Very tasty. May try the chef’s Saturday prix fixe meal dinner soon.

Checked out a “store” that used to be in the mall, but left (dunno why), now in warehouse space.

Since 1900

Since 1900

Less of a store, more of a “garage sale”. Recently opened after years of silence. Owner is getting up there age-wise. maybe trying to sell off inventory (all old stock, nothing new) before …

Bought a nice set of chopsticks.

Chopsticks

Chopsticks

Not sure if supplier is still in existence. Nice crafting. Trying to decide whether to keep them or use them. Leaning toward using them to celebrate the craftsmanship.

Lunch.

Ham Sandwich

Ham Sandwich

From Honey Glazed Hams of Hawaii. I know for variety, but why would anyone order anything else but a hams sandwich  from a place called Honey glazed Hams of Hawaii? Just wondering.

Dinner, back at Sweet Home Aunty, comfort food at its best.

Kabocha Soup with Rice

Kabocha Soup with Rice

The Cat is falling in love with the rice topping.

The Mouse's Stir-Fry

The Mouse’s Stir-Fry

New preparation on the menu, stir-fry with rice (instead of soup). Cilantro, green onions, and ginger onion sauce from the condiment bar. Can you tell The Mouse likes cilantro, green onions, and green onion ginger sauce? Camouflage. Hee hee.

A little sweet to end the meal and day.

Shave Ice with Coffee Jelly and Red Beans

Shave Ice with Coffee Jelly and Red Beans

Dined kinda late, the other colorful jelly were gone. That’s okay, coffee jelly and red beans turned out to be a good mix if not photogenic.

Plus a public service announcement. Sweet Home Aunty now closed on Tuesdays … too tired. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Shave Ice

Yesterday, still hot, and humid, and rainy. Bleh. What better way to get happy than with shave ice.

Green Tea and Strawberry Shave Ice

Green Tea and Strawberry Shave Ice

With a spoon of azuki beans on top. Didn’t go to the organic Japanese tourist-y place from last week, went to the convenience store across the street. Bigger ice, smaller price. syrups are not made in-house nor “organic”, but this takes me back to small kid time. Sweet syrups, probably full of artificial flavors. Yum! Plus, yesterday, the syrups were generous pours. Happy Mouse.

For dinner, remnants from the week.

Lu Rou with Celery

Lu Rou with Celery Stir-Fry

Winter Melon Soup

Winter Melon Soup

Chinese stir-frys. From cutting board to plate, less than 15 minutes. Almost always good, original “fast food”.

Forecast for more hot, humid, rainy weather. Ugh. Sigh.

More shave ice.

Eat well.
