One of those days, mainly, internet went down, and The Mouse had to get an MRI. But, dinner was good. Zippy’s.

Daily special.

Portuguese Bean Soup, Iced Tea

.

Chicken Long Rice, Brown Rice

Now, this dish was something. The Mouse doesn’t usually go for the chicken long rice (tends to be overcooked and the chicken dry — breast meat). The chef/cook did right. Thigh meat, nicely salted, shredded. Almost fooled The Mouse, could’ve been kalua pork. That good. Compliments to the kitchen.

Hope the put this on the regular menu.

Hopefully back to normal, but you never know.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Local diner chain, Zippy’s. Original plan was to get their vegetarian chili, The Mouse loves their vegetarian chili, there’s corn in it. Yum!

The Mouse got sidetracked by their daily special. “Korean” style fried tofu nuggets.

The complete meal option.

Portuguese Bean Soup

With King’s Hawaiian Sweet Bread Roll. I know the roll supposedly has very little nutritional value, but off the scale in comfort food value. 🙂

Korean Fried Tofu Nuggets

With brown rice and corn, try to eat healthier, hee hee. The nuggets were good, not spicy enough, a side of kimchi would have been great.

Blueberry Turnover

Super flaky, not fresh blueberries, jam/paste, but full. Nom!

Enjoy. Eat well.

Are you the type that can eat anything anytime? Think fried chicken for breakfast (chicken and waffles?). Or does your brain have food categories (waffles for breakfast, not for dinner)?

As mentioned in the previous post, normal Sunday schedule was “altered”. Earlier breakfast than normal at Zippy’s.

The Cat ordered breakfast.

French Toast, Corned Beef Hash, Fried Egg

The Mouse sometimes falls into the first category.

The Mouse ordered “breakfast”.

Portuguese Bean Soup

And

Mushroom Burger

Which The Mouse “modified”.

Zippy’s Mushroom Burger with Mouse Mods

The lettuce and onions were eaten separately like a salad with catsup dressing (Hee hee). Added a shiso leaf from our bucket. Yum!

The benefits of eating at Zippy’s, most dishes (except for the daily specials) can be ordered almost at any hour. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Where’s The Bangles when you need them.

Both The Cat and The Mouse worked on Saturday. 😦

The Mouse was planning to pick up tacos from Chef D, didn’t make it. Settled for take-out from the nearby health food store. I know, sigh.

Everything was not bad, the sandwich was pork loin, not pork belly, the salads were okay. My only complaint, the cookie was dry, like what I would imagine styrofoam. Sigh.

Dinner was suuuuuper late. The Cat got delayed at work, by the time she came out, most eating choices were closed. Ended up at Zippy’s with the late night crowd, at the counter.

Zippy’s is one of the few, if not only, place where for an added dollar something, rice and salad is added to soup to make a meal. Good deal. Just enough for a late night meal.

It’s still only February, there’s March and April to go. Woohoo.

Enjoy. Eat well.
