The Mouse style (no recipe).

Start with …

Pork Belly

Browned, lightly salted. Simmered overnight with water, apple cider vinegar, whiskey, liquid smoke, and ginger.

No garlic, The Cat’s stomach and garlic are not friends.

In the morning, added a can of beans.

Can

The Mouse didn’t do the regular pork and beans beans (Navy, I think?) these beans were larger, and since the pork belly was chunky, The Mouse thought a better fit.

Simmered for about half an hour. The Mouse thought about adding a package of gravy, but already flavorful, might be too much.

Pork and Beans, The Mouse Style

Went into The Cat’s bento, and maybe dinner for The Mouse. πŸ™‚

Beans, and Beans

Lunch this week. Natto!

Natto with Canned Salmon

The Mouse would rather gross out the co-workers than The Cat. Hee hee.

Dinner this week.

Beans

Best eaten right out of the can.

Notice a theme this week? πŸ™‚

Enjoy. Eat well.

First Pictures!

First an update, after filling out the online survey, a representative from the local McD’s contacted The Mouse for follow-up. Cutting to the end, The Mouse can go back to McD’s for a replacement meal. Gonna cash in soon. πŸ™‚

Finally got to upgrade The Mouse’s old iPhone 5. Not waiting for the X (maybe too many new technologies that may have hiccups?), picked up the 8-Plus. Yay!

So, first pics with the new phone.

Won Ton Mein with Vegetables

Kin Wah Chop Suey.

The Noodles

Cheap eats. Less than a bowl of ramen, plus there is won ton, on of The Mouse’s favorite food groups (dumplings!) Hee hee.

The Last of Beer Braised Pork and Beans

The Cat’s dinner bowl. The beans, celery, mustard cabbage, and a few strands of somen and soba.

The Mouse thinks the pictures from the new phone are sharper than the iPhone 5 (duh!). Color seems to be better too. πŸ™‚

Dinner with favorite aunt and cousins tonight.

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Cat’s Lunch.

Lion Head Lunch

Lion Head Lunch

There’s something about pork and beans. I guess Van Camp’s got it right oh so many years ago. One of my father’s favorite jokes. Meat delivery truck pulls up to the pork and bean factory, driver gets out, asks the manager how much pork he needs. Manager replies “one pound”. Driver comments “wow! business must be booming!” Hee hee snort.

Sorry, got distracted.

"Crab" Sandwich

“Crab” Sandwich

Almost blew pork week yesterday. Ordered the blackboard special, crab sandwich. Surprise, surprise, it was a double-decker with avocado and … bacon! Yum! Happy Mouse. πŸ™‚

Dinner

Dinner

Braised smoked pork hock with carrot and celery. The braising brought out more collagen to thicken the dish. The Cat said yum!

Finally,

Somewhere ...

Somewhere …

The Cat got distracted while waiting in line in Costco to get gas (for her car, not herself).

Enjoy. Eat well.

Around the corner from my temp office. What is “modern mexican kitchen”? I dunno.

Maybe by adding “modern” they can charge more.

As in “real” pork and beans, the dish could’ve had a bit more pork in it.

It was good though. Oh well.

Enjoy. Eat well.
