Cauliflower Pizza Dough?

The Cat’s lunch from CPK.

California Veggie Pizza

Broccolini, eggplant, Cremini mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted corn, red onions and Mozzarella on cauliflower crust.

The Cat brought home a slice for The Mouse to try. The Mouse couldn’t tell the difference, but then again, he is not a pizza crust aficionado. So maybe on that level, CPK succeeded. 🙂

Unplugged, Part III

Up to Mauna Kea, freeze body parts off.

The Mouse’s Lunch

Rushed. Ate in the tour car. Pork belly sliders on guava rolls, house-made potato chips. If The Mouse wasn’t so rushed, this was a pretty good meal, especially the potato chips, thicker cut, not glass shattering crispy, but thick crispy. 🙂


Freezing cold (at least for the tropical mouse). Long sleeved t-shirt, polo shirt, fleece vest, puff vest, and the jacket provided by the tour. Forgot gloves. Cold!






Tour took 5+ hours, got back to the hotel and few restaurants open.

Met up with the cuz’s D&G @ CPK. Didn’t know this would be their first time. They’ve always been so knowledgeable about trends and stuff (note their initials D&G). 🙂

Because the cuz’s were “virgins”, manager comped a sample plate of their artichoke and spinach dip.

Sample Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Served hot with housemade blue & white corn tortilla chips.

Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower

Fresh cauliflower florets fried to a golden brown with buttermilk batter, then tossed in housemade Sriracha buffalo sauce and topped with a salad of celery, Gorgonzola and cilantro.

Don’t you love it when restaurants have their menu online? Easier to post, brain power conserved. Hee hee.

Baked Potato Soup

Purée of potato with Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon and scallions.

Dakota Smashed Pea and Barley

A hearty split pea soup with barley, carrots, onions, savory herbs and scallions.

The Mouse would definitely order this soup again.

Avocado Club Egg Rolls

Hand-wrapped crispy wonton rolls filled with avocado, chicken, tomato, Monterey Jack and Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon. Served with housemade ranchito sauce and herb ranch.

The cuz’s were fans of the eggrolls, The Mouse, not so much.

Five Cheese + Tomato Pizza

Fresh and traditional Mozzarella, Monterey Jack, smoked Gouda and Romano with tomato and fresh basil.

Roasted Artichoke + Spinach Pizza

Oven-roasted artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, sautéed spinach, Mozzarella and Parmesan over a layer of our legendary Spinach Artichoke Dip.

Lemongrass Chicken

Pan-roasted chicken in a lemongrass ginger glaze, over a stir-fry of baby bok choy, roasted farro, Shiitake mushrooms and red chili.

Kinda more P.F. Chang-ish than CPK, lots of umami flavor from the mushrooms. The Mouse’s favorite of the night. And luckily, he got to take home the leftovers for lunch today. 🙂

When The Mouse was younger, leftovers was not in the vocabulary nor a concept. Now that The Mouse is older (not necessarily wiser), leftovers are not only a practice, but a happy concept. Benefits include not having to prep and cook as often, and helps to keep the clothes from shrinking. Hee hee. Don’t get me wrong, I love prepping and cooking, just that right now there are a few personal structural issues that need to be addressed before The Mouse can go “full speed” in the kitchen.


The Cat brought home, office lunch. The Mouse nibbled throughout the day.
