Old school. One of my father’s favorites, except he didn’t have the patience to cook the onions down, his was crispy.

The Mouse started with a red onion, ’cause it looked pretty.

Red Onion

Thinly sliced, low and slow in the pan with olive oil, turn heat to medium and add tin of sardines (with oil), smash and heat to incorporate. Salt and pepper to taste.

Sardines and Onions

Over steamed rice. Mmm. The Mouse supposes it would be good over pasta too, maybe even ramen. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

The Mouse’s dinner last night.

Picked up from the neighborhood Chinese take-out drive-in. Not gourmet, no premium meat, no special sauce, but cheap and well made. The Mouse added maybe the last shiso leaves of the season from the bucket.

Stay healthy y’all.

Enjoy. Eat well.

“Since we were in the neighborhood.” Had to make a stop at Manago Restaurant. Super old school.

Almost Twilight

Pickled seaweed, macaroni potato salad, mixed vegetables.

Mahi Mahi

The Mouse’s. Pan-fried, garlic and butter. The best!

The Cat ordered opakapaka, looked so similar the server was confused for a moment.

Hopefully, we can return again.

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Mouse’s favorite cuts of beef, the tail, and the tongue.

Browsing on Yelp, came across pictures of beef tongue only on Wednesday special at old school “cafe”. The Mouse obsessed for a couple of weeks.

A small detour on The Mouse’s commuting route. Not too far.

Finally decided to take the plunge.

The Place

Even the menu cover has an old school feel, too bad the prices are not the same. Sigh.

Oh well, forging ahead.

Super old school. Iceburg lettuce. Takes The Mouse back to eateries like The Wisteria, Colombia Inn, and Flamingo Restaurant, all gone now. Sigh.

Beef Tongue on Spinach

Cooked a very long time, fork tender, The Mouse thinks canned spinach, but no matter, old school vibe. Both socks off. Nom!

For dessert

Peach Pie

Again, The Mouse thinks canned peaches, not canned peach pie filling, but canned peaches. That’s okay, kept to the old school vibe.

Check put a slight dent in the wallet, but a small indulgence. The Mouse was happy. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
