The Cat’s office building management organizes mini events for special days. For the lunar new year, management passed out mini mooncakes. Cute yeah?
🙂
Stay safe and well.

The Mouse
The Cat’s schoolmate brought over.
The Mouse is not familiar with this type of mooncake (flaky, savory), The Mouse is more familiar with the denser and sweeter Cantonese variety. The Cat said these are from a different area/region (The Mouse forgot where).
The mooncake needed to be warmed, non-oiled non-stick pan, low-medium heat, fifteen minutes.
Spiced ground meat (pork?), and The Mouse doesn’t know what else. Pretty tasty. Mmm. 🙂
Stay safe and well.

Last night’s dinner.
Boiled dumplings, boiled turnip, seaweed and soybean soup, and vinegar for dipping.
Kinda bite sized.
I think this one was red date.
The Mouse had a few dumplings then ended with a sandwich. Hee hee.
Simple, bread, butter, headcheese. Yum!
Happy belated moon festival!
Enjoy. Eat well.

As mentioned in previous post, lunch with two German chefs, yum cha/dim sum, Royal Garden restaurant.
And
And
And
And
Surprisingly, Chef H loves chicken feet, said he learned from his ex-in-laws (they’re Chinese). Chef H also likes pork feet, beef feet, oxtail, and head cheese. The Cat and The Mouse’s kind of Chef 🙂
Speaking of which …
And
Apparently, Chef R knows the restaurant better than The Cat. His tips, don’t go when they first open, roasted items not ready, go about a half hour later, don’t order anything but dim sum in the morning, kitchen is focusing on dim sum, ordering other menu items throws the kitchen out of sync and the dish may not be “perfect”. Good tips.
At the entrance.
According to the sign, it’s as big as 256 regular mooncakes. Guiness anyone? Hee hee.
The Mouse even got the basic recipe for escargot using canned escargot. Shucks, forgot to ask for the cooking time. Oh well, Google!
Enjoy. Eat well.

The Mouse has been having some hard/software issues. Himself, not the computer’s. Made an appointment yesterday with a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioner to see if he could help. He used to be one of China’s top acrobats and studied TCM because of his own injuries. I can imagine being an acrobat takes a toll on the body.
Session started with massage. Face down on that funny donut pillow. Guessing what Kobe cows go through. Although The Mouse felt he was being sat on by an elephant.
Next was acupuncture and cupping on the back. Again, The Mouse was imagining a bull ring in Mexico or Spain and a milking barn. Sorry, imagination was running wild.
The final process was The Mouse being pulled and twisted like wet laundry being wrung out. It was an experience let me tell ya’.
The only thing missing from the session was beer (Kobe beef, get it?). 🙂
Might take a few session to completely reboot the hard/software. Looking forward to next week’s session. 😉
To change the subject, The Cat brought home Shanghai style mooncake from her favorite small-kid time bakery.
The Cat’s favorite  “flavor”.
Seaweed, sugar, pinenuts, a little bit of salt. Think furikake with pinenuts. Interesting taste.
Enjoy. Eat well.
