Mango Mango

The Mouse has not browsed the Ala Moana mall in years. Yesterday, The Cat wanted something from one of the stores. Good excuse to do a little walking exercise. Hee hee.

New-ish Taiwanese? snack shop, specializing in fresh mango drinks and snacks.

On the advice of a regular customer, The Cat ordered mango smoothie, only mango, no other ingredients.

The Mouse is not a big mango person, ordered winter melon tea.

Fancy, The Mouse felt he had to stick out his pinky. Hee hee. Tea not bad, light and refreshing.

Oh, and to prove that the kitchen uses fresh mangoes…

“Giant” Mango

People that gave this mango to The Cat thought it was “too pretty” to eat. Looked at it for a couple of days, as it was ripening, decided it would be a waste not to eat it but still could bring themselves to “commit the deed”. Gave it to The Cat who quickly dispatched it with no emotional attachment at all. Hee hee.

“Canned” Mango

“Gift” by Chef Hardy. In heavy syrup, The Cat says “yum”. Still not quite sure what the dark thing is though. Have to take a bite/lick later.

From Chef Zone. Thought I’d try making escargot at home (since The Cat likes it). Online recipes look easy enough, but then, The Mouse “chickened”. Think I’ll have a quick consult with Chef H before attempting.

Weekend Recap

Not too much happened.

Picked up a couple of mangoes at the farmers market for The Cat.

The left is from the Philippines (or was it Mexico), the right from Maui. The Cat like the Maui one better.

Used The Martha to braise chicken feet.
