Been wanting to try a few things from the table but not exactly knowing what is what, always a bit hesitant. Saturday, put on my big mouse pants and gave a few things a shot (nothing too exotic).

The Mouse’s Saturday night dinner.

Kimbab, Rolled Egg Omelet, Prepared Choi Sum, Spicy Fried Tofu (two ways)

Still not up to trying the raw spicy crab and other unfamiliar offerings. One step at a time.

Picked these up from the Korean grocery store today.

Fresh Chinese Dates

Fresh Chinese Dates

Also known as jujube (here’s the Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jujube. Asked the store cashier how to eat them, just wash and eat them, no need to peel. First time for me, both in seeing a fresh Chinese date and tasting one.

Drier than I expected, kind of pulpy, mildly sweet. The Cat thinks they taste slightly bitter. They’re okay, just okay. Supposed to be a good source of vitamin C. Eat them like medicine. According to Wikipedia, Chinese make a “wine” out of them, there’s a thought. 🙂
