Yesterday, The Mouse attended his employer’s annual conference, as a volunteer, to get a feel of the culture of the organization. Long story short, The Mouse is working as a contract-to-hire since beginning of summer. Best part? The Mouse gets to work from home. 🙂

Anyway, organization holds an annual convention for their “stakeholders” and The Mouse offered to help.

Breakfast:

Pastry, Fruit, Coffee

Free is free. Hee hee.

Lunch:

Eggplant and Tofu Bento

The Mouse went with the vegetarian option, didn’t want to eat too heavy and fall asleep in the afternoon. Only issue, the eggplant was still crunchy, a little bitter, but still edible, just different.

Conference adjourned early afternoon. The Mouse picked up dinner, old school drive inn.

Pink Pie Box

Old school right?

Deluxe Japanese Plate Lunch

Shrimp tempura, beef teriyaki, mochiko chicken, sashimi. The sashimi makes the plate deluxe. All for a little over $10.00. Good deal. Mmm! The Mouse, happy. 🙂

Be safe, eat good.

Established 1935, wow!

Menu Cover

The Mouse ordered old school (small-kid time hanabata days).

Hamburger Deluxe and Small Saimin

Believe it not, the two items are actually listed in the menu as a choice. You don’t have to order ala carte. 😉

The Cat ordered kinda old school.

Nabeyaki Udon

Think of it as the “everything including the kitchen sink” of noodle bowls, shrimp tempura, chicken, egg, kamaboko, etc. The only thing missing would be a teri beef stick. Hee hee.

The Cat saw butterfish on the okazu-ya side of the restaurant, ordered that too to try try.

Butterfish Nitsuke

Butterfish filet simmered in shoyu, sugar, sake/mirin. The Cat really liked and, compared to the fine dining restaurants, inexpensive.

The Cat has approved a return soon. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Restaurant The Mouse thought closed for good has risen like a phoenix, Sakura Terrace. For a long time, the place was boarded up (even before lock-down). The Mouse guesses owner wanted to protect the property from vandals.

Heading to doctors appointments, The Mouse drove by, surprised that the boards were taken off and new signage was up. After getting a sorta clean bill of health. The Mouse went to investigate. 🙂

Mural

Hmm. Two sumo wrestlers on surfboards riding waves, one with a SPAM musubi and one chasing origami paper cranes. Meaning? The Mouse dunno.

Limited menu, take-out only for now. Two items, unusual to The Mouse’s eyes (not bento).

Pipikaula Salad

Salted and dried beef, spinach, poached egg, mushroom, w/ house dressing.

Ready to Eat

An instant favorite salad for The Mouse. Chef used king oyster mushrooms! Extra points!

The second non-bento item The Mouse ordered.

Maguro Burger

Another instant fave for The Mouse. Came with satsuma imo (sweet potato) fries.

The maguro was breaded and deep fried to perfection. The Mouse kinda cannot eat McD’s filet of fish for a while. Different league.

Oh, and the little message on the take-out boxes added to the experience.

Take-Out Boxes

Cute yeah?

The Mouse was a happy mouse. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Cookies

Finally getting to some of the cookie boxes received for Christmas.

Inside

Food products from Japan most times are so nicely packaged. The Mouse likes the individual packaging, items stay fresh longer.

Cookie

Cookie

The square one has a thin layer of strawberry cream in between. Reminds The Mouse of a high end Oreo thin cookie. Nom! The round one is a thin wafer, somehow reminds The Mouse of a sweet Ritz cracker dunno why. More nom. 🙂

The Mouse has a theory, Japanese packaged treats makes you lose weight. Portion control (individually wrapped), and the calories burned opening the packaging counter the calories ingested. What you think? Plausible? Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
