Bread!

After doctor appointment. “Japanese” bakery, conveniently next to grocery store.

Loaf

Bakery will slice various thicknesses based on customer request. The Mouse requested 2mm (first time experience for The Mouse), a little thick, that’s okay, good toasting width. Next time, The Mouse thinks 1.5mm for general use.

Onion Pastry

A little spicy. Would have been great with a side burger patty. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Buying Bread

The Cat and The Mouse did a little shopping yesterday. Day off for The Cat. The Cat uses a couple of charge cards that offer rewards for using. She had dollars at Macy’s that expire in a couple of days. Since she didn’t need anything at the moment, so The Mouse got two pairs of slippers. Yay!

Since we were at the mall, The Mouse checked to see if the Japanese bakery had bread ends. The bakery sells the end pieces of sliced bread separately from its regular sliced loaves for cheap. The Mouse guesses most customers don’t like the ends?

The Cat thought one of their pastries was cute.

Flat Bread with Vegetables

The bag of bread ends is in the background. The Mouse imagines it takes a good amount of loaves to fill accumulate enough bread ends to fill one bag. The availability is hit or miss. The Mouse was lucky yesterday. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

I guess sometimes The Bangles get it wrong. Yesterday was pretty manic.

It started Friday afternoon. One of the cans in the pantry was leaking. After the clean-up, thought it better to eat the contents of the cans the leaking can dripped on (no, I did not eat the contents of the compromised can).

Without going into details, I guess the combination was not too comfortable for The Mouse’s tummy. Stomach woke me up early Saturday morning needing … uhm … you get the idea.

After that, tried to go back to sleep and slightly overslept (hence the non-posting yesterday).

After some unexpected and time-consuming errands, a late breakfast/lunch gorge. Probably not the best course of action, but I was “starving”. Buffet lunch at Maple Garden/Yen King.

Food!

Food!

Choi sum, garlic eggplant, steamed fish, beef broccoli, salt and pepper shrimp. If the salt and pepper shrimp is right out of the wok, the shells are crispy and delicate like thin glass and I eat ’em shell, head, and all. Alas, the shrimp were not right out of the wok (buffet line syndrome), but they were still acceptable, just had to peel them.

A couple of hours later, another tummy grumble episode. Maybe The Mouse was slightly dehydrated after running errands.

Hungry again.

Checked out a “newish” Japanese bakery/eatery been curious about.

At the suggestion of the kitchen staff and counter sales people, selected two pastries for The Cat and one for The Mouse.

Mango Tart, Sweet Potato Bun, Pork Belly Bun

When the counter staff saw me trying to take a picture, they loaned me a plate so that it would be more “photogenic”. Cute ya?

Pork Belly, Hoisin Sauce Bun

Very tasty. definitely a “go back again item”.

A late dinner with The Cat (deadline pressure).

The Cat’s go-to comfort food dish here.

Vegetable Tan Tan Ramen

The Mouse’s “mixed rice”.

Shredded Pork and Szechuan Pickle Rice Bowl

Only issue with Goma Tei is after eating, thirsty (dunno if it’s too much salt or MSG).

Finished the day/night with a stop at Starbucks (not for coffee).

Herbal Sangria Shaken "Tea"

Herbal Sangria Shaken “Tea”

No caffeine. Bonus, frozen raspberries and orange slices in the drink. 🙂

Sunday morning, no tummy issues for The Mouse. Happy happy.

Off to grocery shopping for the week. Hopefully no “mania” today.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Hello, I am The Mouse, and I am lactose intolerant. There, it’s out. Whew! Hee hee.

Yesterday, was a tempt fate kinda day.

Parmesan Bagel Chips

Parmesan Bagel Chips

Someone brought back from their visit to the ninth Hawaiian island. I personally would have preferred the cinnamon flavored chips but can’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Stopped in here waiting for the bus.

Been curious about this for a long time,

Ham, Jarlsberg & Dijon Sandwich
A sandwich of thick cut Black Forest ham, Jarlsberg cheese and Dijon mustard is just the thing to ward off the hunger and get back out there chopping wood or hunting bears or whatever awesome thing you’re doing today. (From the Jamba Juice website).

But always was too “chicken”.

Since I already “fell off the wagon” earlier …

Ham

Ham, Jarlsberg & Dijon Sandwich

Picked up a still frozen one and toasted it at home.

Mmm. Crispy, crunchy, salty, and gooey. Definitely one of my new favorites (in moderation of course).

Finally, one of The Cat’s clients brought these to The Cat’s office the other day.

Box of Happy

When the client picked up her finished tax return.

Being that the pastries are very perishable (even stored in the refig) … and that, as of yesterday, they were already a day old …

Green Tea Mousse Cake Strawberry Shortcake?

The Mouse ate two. 🙂

Good thing I carry around an ample supply of lactase pills.

The pills are not 100% effective (at least for me), but the pills do substantially reduce the after effects of consuming dairy.

Enjoy. Eat well.
