The Mouse ran an errand looking for a “treat” for The Cat’s Halloween.
Since he was there, picked up a burger at the mall.
Classic Burger
Medium rare, substitute plain baked potato for French Fries. Part 1, The Mouse ate half of the baked potato and everything else except the hamburger patty. The hamburger patty and half of the baked potato is Part 2.
The Mouse ordered old school (small-kid time hanabata days).
Hamburger Deluxe and Small Saimin
Believe it not, the two items are actually listed in the menu as a choice. You don’t have to order ala carte. 😉
The Cat ordered kinda old school.
Nabeyaki Udon
Think of it as the “everything including the kitchen sink” of noodle bowls, shrimp tempura, chicken, egg, kamaboko, etc. The only thing missing would be a teri beef stick. Hee hee.
The Cat saw butterfish on the okazu-ya side of the restaurant, ordered that too to try try.
Butterfish Nitsuke
Butterfish filet simmered in shoyu, sugar, sake/mirin. The Cat really liked and, compared to the fine dining restaurants, inexpensive.
The Mouse just added a little more “horse power”, hee hee. Bought a package of fish cake, similar to the single slice packaged with the saimin.
Fish Cake
The Mouse learned, the accouterments should be thinly sliced, to accompany the noodles, not over power it.
SPAM and Fish Cake
The Mouse also added more SPAM, well, just because. Hee hee.
Ohh, also added a pinch of dried shrimp and wakame (more umami), and drastically cut down the powdered soup base (too much sodium).
Dried Shrimp
Everyone into the bowl.
The Mouse’s Saimin Deluxe
Mmm.
A perfect pairing would be to have an old fashion hamburger, nothing gourmet, bun, meat, spread. In The Mouse’s old age, the burger was postponed until dinner.
Old School Hamburger Sandwich
The Mouse had a happy food day. 🙂
The Cat also had a good noodle day.
Dan Dan Mein
The Cat forgot to order “mild”, came out spicy. Still good though.
Ordered a take-home, raw hamburger from the steakhouse visit last weekend. The Mouse was curious, more so, the price was very reasonable for a 10 ounce patty.
The Patty
The Mouse salt and peppered, made a divot, and cooked the burger on medium heat, no sear.
Included with the order was a brioche bun, even better.
Brioche Bun
Assembled
The Mouse kept it simple, burger patty (cooked medium), yellow mustard, liver spread.
Stratified Pic
Mmm! The Mouse was extremely satisfied. Meat quality was out of this world, tender and juicy.
Sorry, no bite pic, after the first bite, too juicy, The Mouse got distracted. Given the opportunity, The Mouse would do it again. 🙂
