Chinese chop suey restaurant little further away from the neighborhood chop suey.

Dry-Fried Green Beans

The Cat thought the beans did not look visually appealing but The Mouse thinks in order to get the flavor, the beans have to be a little charred.

Kau Yuk with Taro

Mmm! Ultimate comfort food, just can’t eat too much in one sitting. This will last a couple/several meals. 😉

Stay safe and well.

The Cat still exploring ma po tofu. The Cat found what we thought was a new place near Chinatown, turns out same owners, new chef, new name. Menu changed from Cantonese to Sichuan.

Ma Po Tofu

Dish had a noticeable amount of Sichuan pepper, definite numbing effect. The Cat sorta approved. The Mouse conditionally approved.

Wok Fried Green Beans

The beans were good, The Mouse thinks the kitchen dragon had the day off, not quite “burnt” enough.

Dan Dan Noodles

The noodles were tasty, and spicy. The Mouse experienced a little side effect afterwards, will not go into details, tmi. 😉

The Cat saw more dishes she wants to try next time, The Mouse will be bringing some kind of stomach remedy counter measures next time. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Just Beans

Funny schedules yesterday. Light dinner.

Green Beans and Bamboo Shoot

Green beans from the farmers market, bamboo shoot residuals from packing The Cat’s bento. Quickly parboiled, olive oil and salt.

That’s it for today. Have a great one.

Enjoy. Eat well.

A break from the Sunday routine. Lunch with friends in town. Lobster King.

High two?

Picture on the wall. The Mouse thought it was hilarious. Hee hee.

Restaurant also runs a wholesale business. Comped us a plate of Samoan crab to introduce/promote.

Samoan Crabs

The Cat and friends went at it. The Mouse, crustacean in shell challenged. Pass.

Lobster

Another challenging dish for The Mouse. Not as severe as the crab, The Mouse tried an easy piece. More for The Cat and friends.

Soft Tofu with Seafood Gravy

Probably not the exact name, more the description. This dish is something The Mouse can handle. 🙂

Spicy Eggplant

The Cat’s choice.

Green Beans with Pork

The Mouse’s choice.

Didn’t order any carbs. The Mouse was kinda jonesing for a bowl of won ton mein or jook.

Still get a kick out of that lobster picture. Too bad the claws can’t make the shaka sign. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Overslept today (has nothing to do with the post, jus’ sayin’).

Tried two places this weekend that uses paper plates. Nothing wrong with paper plates, just felt (at least at one place), a little too, uhm, casual?

First place, Koa Cafe, new “kid” on the block of the Koa Pancake House chain (http://www.koacafe.com). Word is the parents retired and the son is updating the brand.

Pork was offered, pork was ordered.

Porky Pork Benedict with Side Salad

Porky Pork Benedict with Side Salad

Vinha D’alhos & Spinach topped with Bacon Hollandaise. Yum! Socks off. Anything with pork and bacon …. hee hee. I was a little concerned about the Vinha D’alhos, the last time I ordered it at another place, it was too vinegar-y for me.

Too bad it was served on a paper plate. 😦

Sauce and yolk kinda got lost in the paper fibers. Sigh. Maybe, if I return, I’ll bring my own Corelle plate.

Lunch after farmers market today, Cajun King (http://www.cajunking808.com/menu.html), “around the corner”. Kinda a “crab boil” place that’s trending here now (Chinese owners, I think). No “crab boil” for The Cat and The Mouse today, more like Chinese food, with a little  shrimp truck on the side.

Stir-Fried String Beans with Garlic

Stir-Fried String Beans with Garlic

Pretty awesome, done well, seasoned perfectly. Definitely order again.

Spicy Eggplant

Spicy Eggplant

Ordered mild. Not bad, pretty good. Very adequate.

Sausage

Sausage

Portuguese sausage. I was expecting Andouille maybe Boudin sausage being that the restaurant is “Cajun”, but at least it wast tasty.

Before I forget …

Bowl of Rice

Bowl of Rice

See … paper (or foam) plates. Now, I understand that these “Cajun” restaurants are “down and dirty” eating styles (tablecloth is butcher paper). But … hee hee.

The Cat's Plate

The Cat’s Plate

Shrimp truck shrimp and pork chop lunch combo with fried rice. The pork chop … excellent, the shrimp, slightly over done, and the fried rice … sorry, Kin Wah is much better. But both the shrimp and rice were more than edible. 🙂

Our paper plate weekend adventures.

Enjoy. Eat well.
