Overslept today (has nothing to do with the post, jus’ sayin’).
Tried two places this weekend that uses paper plates. Nothing wrong with paper plates, just felt (at least at one place), a little too, uhm, casual?
First place, Koa Cafe, new “kid” on the block of the Koa Pancake House chain (http://www.koacafe.com). Word is the parents retired and the son is updating the brand.
Pork was offered, pork was ordered.

Porky Pork Benedict with Side Salad
Vinha D’alhos & Spinach topped with Bacon Hollandaise. Yum! Socks off. Anything with pork and bacon …. hee hee. I was a little concerned about the Vinha D’alhos, the last time I ordered it at another place, it was too vinegar-y for me.
Too bad it was served on a paper plate. 😦
Sauce and yolk kinda got lost in the paper fibers. Sigh. Maybe, if I return, I’ll bring my own Corelle plate.
Lunch after farmers market today, Cajun King (http://www.cajunking808.com/menu.html), “around the corner”. Kinda a “crab boil” place that’s trending here now (Chinese owners, I think). No “crab boil” for The Cat and The Mouse today, more like Chinese food, with a little  shrimp truck on the side.

Stir-Fried String Beans with Garlic
Pretty awesome, done well, seasoned perfectly. Definitely order again.

Spicy Eggplant
Ordered mild. Not bad, pretty good. Very adequate.

Sausage
Portuguese sausage. I was expecting Andouille maybe Boudin sausage being that the restaurant is “Cajun”, but at least it wast tasty.
Before I forget …

Place Setting

Bowl of Rice
See … paper (or foam) plates. Now, I understand that these “Cajun” restaurants are “down and dirty” eating styles (tablecloth is butcher paper). But … hee hee.

The Cat’s Plate
Shrimp truck shrimp and pork chop lunch combo with fried rice. The pork chop … excellent, the shrimp, slightly over done, and the fried rice … sorry, Kin Wah is much better. But both the shrimp and rice were more than edible. 🙂
Our paper plate weekend adventures.
Enjoy. Eat well.
