This week’s soup bones.

Pork Bones

Not sure which bones these are, not leg bones, not ribs, possibly neck. Not too much marrow. Cooked a shorter time than the feet, took out the bones and shredded the meat.

Soup Meat

The Mouse not decided what to do with the meat yet.

Bitter Melon

Farmers market. May go into the shredded pork meat soup, maybe not. Dunno.

Potato and Butterfish

Leftover banchan from The Mouse’s lunch, small piece of miso butterfish from the grocery store. Super easy, toaster oven 10 to 12 minutes.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Paraphrasing JB, Hee hee.

The Mouse was in the mood for a fish sandwich, not the fried stuff from the fast-food places. First choice, since he was in the area was place near the naval memorials, recommended by a former co-worker, wait too long.

Second choice, golf course “nineteenth hole”, founded by Don Ho’s mom. You know, “Tiny Bubbles” fame? Nice view.

View from the Parking Lot

The Mouse was thinking about soup and sandwich, soup was corn chowder, too much dairy, sorry TMI.

Instead, The Mouse ordered a side salad and the fish sandwich.

Salad

Seasonal mixed greens, croutons, balsamic dressing. Nice.

Grilled Mahi Sandwich

Twin Filets Grilled and Served with Lettuce, Tomato and Tartar Sauce. Served on a Homemade Bun.

Classic, nothing gourmet, fish grilled well. Satisfied the craving. Server nice enough to give more of the balsamic dressing for fries dipping. Not malt vinegar but close.

No dessert, the ran out of sweet potato pie. Sigh.

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Cat has a semi-homebound client that she has been delivering her prescriptions for. Recently, the client has had some health issues that kept her on pretty much a liquid diet.

Client finally was cleared by her doctor to eat again, The Cat thought she might like a real food meal, and some company. Unfortunately, client suffered a setback (not eating related) and cancelled lunch.

The Mouse and The Cat decided to pick up food and drop it off so at least she has something to eat, and since we were there, might as well eat too.

Popover

.

Chicken Consomme

Standard complimentary starters at the restaurant. The Mouse loves the popovers. Nom!

The Mouse’s Bowl

Red and golden beets, sweet onions, edamame, radish, carrots, avocado, Japanese pickled daikon, furikake brown rice, sesame dressing (menu description)

This dish was good, vegetarian, ordered another for The Cat’s client. Too bad there were no simmered shiitake mushrooms, just a bit of umami.

The Cat’s Plate

Misoyaki Kona kampachi, multigrain rice, garlic ginger choy sum, king crab namasu, kabayaki butter (menu description).

The Cat Ended the Meal with Coffee

Packed up chicken consomme, three popovers, and the beet bowl for the client. very appreciative. The Cat did good.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Fish & Chips

The Mouse has been jonesing for a while. Kinda hard to find in SPAM Land. Tried to satisfy the wants with fish sandwiches from fast food franchises. Nope. Ended up at a burger joint.

Fish & Chips

There used to be a fish & chips take-out years/decades ago that was located in a grocery store at the mall. First time trying for The Mouse (small-kid time). Served in baskets lined with fake newspaper. The Mouseʻs first exposure to malt vinegar.

Malt Vinegar

So yesterdayʻs fish & chips kinda satisfied the craving but did not reach the level from that little stand decades ago. The old hole-in-the-wall stand used to use cod for the fish, yesterdayʻs fish was pollack. Texture not the same, cod more “meaty”, pollack more “pillowy”. The search continues.

Another off-subject picture.

In the Camera Frame

Two of The Mouseʻs fantasy owns (in one camera frame), a Jeep Wrangler (totally impractical), and a small motorcycle. Not the “now-a-days” fancy high powered street racers, not the monstrous noisy beasts. Although those are nice to look at, probably more trouble for The Mouse can handle. Just a small Norton, Triumph, old Honda styled runaround type. Pipedreams.

Enjoy. Eat well.
