And the refridge. Not Spring cleaning, but … Hee hee.

The tin went great with the lentils.

Toaster Oven Roasted Eggplant with Chinese Preserved Vegetable, Butter Roll

This “cleaning out the pantry” gig will be The Mouse’s thing for the week while The Cat visits relatives. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Cat’s lunch.

The Cat used to frequent when she worked in downtown, over ten years ago, now that she moved back …

Stuffed Eggplant

The Mouse’s lunch.

Time between the rheumatologist appointment and chiropractor.

A “spur of the moment” turn through Chinatown and an open parking space in front. Kismet? Hee hee.

Place has been in business for years.

Known for look funn noodles made in-house and Chinese braised beef brisket.

Beef Stew Look Funn

Heard that Yauatcha in SPAM Land will be closing at the end of the month. Aww! While not an everyday restaurant (the prices were kinda steep). The Cat and The Mouse did like the place as a “treat”.

The Cat wanted to visit one last time (maybe).

Crispy Duck Salad

With pomelo, pomegranate and pine nuts. A fave.

Crispy Duck Salad, Top View

Leftover Crispy Duck Bun

Enough leftover for The Mouse’s din din. 🙂

Spicy aubergine, sato bean, okra and long bean
with peanut and dried shrimp

The #1 fave of The Mouse. Gonna miss this dish. May attempt at home.

Kona Coffee Gelato, Pineapple Yuzu Sorbet, Banana Lilikoi Gelato

To end the meal.

The Cat hinted she may want one more visit before closing, hope it’s not to close to the end date, might be a disappointment.

Enjoy. Eat well.

A rush to the farmers market after work. A nice bunch of watercress.

Reasonably priced, nice and fresh (picture does not do it justice).

Part of the “everything but the kitchen sink soup” for The Cat.

“Vegetable” Soup

The watercress (of course), eggplant, okra, bitter melon, green beans, one piece of shoyu pork, pumpkin, and an egg.

The Cat slurped.

Emjoy. Eat well.

Last time tried to get into Tim Ho Wan was a no-go.

This past Sunday, ran an errand, The Mouse had an impulsive thought. What if, The Mouse tried to eat after the initial morning crowd, since traditionally dim sum was a breakfast event?

Went there about 3:00 in the afternoon. No waiting … Score!

Only limitation was that ordering for one is limited (The Mouse’s stomach capacity is only so big), on the plus side, don’t have to order by committee (The Mouse most times defers) and The Mouse doesn’t have to share. Hee hee.

According to one of The Cat’s acquaintances, restaurant is known for their rice dishes, so …

Steamed Ground Beef with Fried Egg on Rice

Winner! Kinda like Chinese loco moco (but without gravy). Definite order again.

About the gravy? According to server, restaurant makes their own soy sauce.

Soy Sauce

The Mouse did taste a slight difference. A few drops on the egg, good to go. Hee hee.

Deep-Fried Eggplant with Shrimp

Another winner. Some restaurants are kind of skimpy with the shrimp filling. Here, very generous.

Nom View

Filling almost as high as the eggplant. Well prepared. Eggplant crispy on the outside, very soft on the inside. Yum!

Another order again dish.

Finished off with a little sweet.

Red Bean Soup

The weakest link. Good, but when compared with the other dishes, okay. Maybe slightly overpriced? Just slightly.

So, the reconnaissance mission a success. Can’t wait to go back and try their char siu bao. Another recommended order.

Enjoy. Eat well.
