Being Pake

My auntie’s grand daughters came to town to visit their “popo” over the weekend. Auntie invited us to dinner with her grand daughters at Duk Kee (1146 12th Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii). Some of the highlights.

As in most Chinese dinners, there were leftovers which we got to take home the lion’s share (or is it The Cat’s share).

Here’s the best part, instead of just warming up the leftovers, I “re-purposed” them.

With the mushrooms, I  sliced them up to flavor sautéed kale (one of The Cat’s new favorite vegetable).

Another night, same vegetable, same idea, but this time with  some of the duck meat.

The restaurant serves the remaining duck from the baos (naked duck). I took the meat off the bones to make the stir-fry.

Last but not least, I used the  bones to make duck soup with kale.
