Repurposed

Also known as wasting not, or leftovers. Hee hee.

The Cat’s Bento

Rice, roasted sweet potato, remainder of The Mouse’s Bahn Mi Bowl from CPK, fried egg.

The Cat’s Jook

Jook topped with the remainder lettuce wrap filling (CPK), the lettuce (chopped), and pickled mustard cabbage (Ramen Manichi). Mmm.

The Cat’s Noodles Bowl

Spaghetti pasta, salted water, zucchini, cauliflower, Chile Verde (leftover from Chile Relleno), wakame.

The Mouse’s Rice Bowl

Steamed rice (underneath),SPAM, Chile Verde, pickled mustard cabbage. Nom!

Happily, the refridge is relatively clear. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Another Mix Bowl

The Cat had a gift card to CPK. Ran an errand near Kahala Mall. Lunch. 🙂

Lettuce Wrap

Fresh Shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts and scallions tossed in spicy ginger soy sauce. The Cat ordered with shrimp. A healthier take on moo shu pork? Not bad for quasi-Chinese food at a quasi-pizza restaurant. Hee hee.

The Cat’s Lunch

Shrimp Scampi Zucchini: Their lighter spin on a traditional recipe. Zucchini ribbons sautéed with lemon, garlic and white wine, tossed with fresh Italian parsley, Parmesan and a touch of fettuccine.

The Cat thought too much lemon flavor. The Mouse finished.

The Mouse’s Bowl

Banh Mi Power Bowl: Quinoa, baby kale, fresh cilantro & mint topped with grilled chicken, watermelon radish, fresh avocado, cucumber, carrot, bean sprouts, scallions and sesame seeds. Served with housemade chili-lime vinaigrette and serrano peppers.

The Mouse liked everything except the chili-lime vinaigrette. He used the remaining ginger-soy sauce from the lettuce wraps. Next time, The Mouse will plan and bring pickled carrot and radishes, and Maggi seasoning liquid to add. 🙂

All Mixed

Because The Mouse finished The Cat’s lunch, he took home a portion of the bowl (went into The Cat’s bento).

Key Lime Pie

Shared. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Cauliflower Pizza Dough?

The Cat’s lunch from CPK.

California Veggie Pizza

Broccolini, eggplant, Cremini mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted corn, red onions and Mozzarella on cauliflower crust.

The Cat brought home a slice for The Mouse to try. The Mouse couldn’t tell the difference, but then again, he is not a pizza crust aficionado. So maybe on that level, CPK succeeded. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Met up with Auntie M, her sorta ex-daughter-in-law (don’t ask, I’m confused too).

Nothing fancy, CPK in Kahala Mall.

A little appetizer for the table.

Crispy Mac ‘n’ Cheese

Menu description: Our classic mac ‘n’ cheese lightly fried with panko, served on creamy cheese sauce. Not bad, thought it could be creamier.

Banh Mi Bowl

The Cat’s order, menu description: Quinoa, baby kale, fresh cilantro & mint topped with grilled chicken, watermelon radishes, fresh avocado, cucumbers, carrots, bean sprouts, scallions and sesame seeds. Served with housemade chili-lime vinaigrette and serrano peppers.

The Cat didn’t mind the bowl. The Mouse thought the menu picture looked better than the actual bowl (didn’t taste it tho’).

California Club and Dakota Smashed Pea + Barley Soup

The Mouse’s order, menu description: Grilled chicken breast with fresh avocado and Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon.

Decent. Had the soup before, green and hearty.

Stratified View

Kitchen was generous with the ingredients, especially the mayo. Now, to put it in perspective, here in SPAM Land, mayo is its own food group (think mac and potato salad). But for this sandwich, the ingredients were just a touch overwhelmed by the mayo, IMO.

Food was decent, just not wow. Plus, The Cat had a promotional gift card that helped with the check.

Sometimes, it’s just not about the food but the gathering of friends and family.

🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
