The Mouse did a site visit yesterday. Visit ended mid-morning. Brunch. Hee hee.
Location
Special of the Day
Fried rice omelet with tomato and green onion, and toast. To The Mouse, kinda had omurice vibe, sorta. The Mouse did squirt ketchup after taking the picture. 🙂
Since The Mouse rarely visits that side of SPAM Land, loaded up on take-out noms.
From another nearby grocery store. Label specifically stated “Corn Cake”. Texture is more cake-y than bread-y. Truth in labeling. Good job. Pretty good actually.
Cornbread
From Zippy’s. One each for The Cat and her business partner (who has a cornbread fetish). Update on taste and texture later.
Idea started with a picture of cornbread at a distillery. Only available this past Friday and Saturday. The Mouse went “hunting” yesterday. First, called the distillery to make sure the cornbread was still available, plugged location into phone and drove off. Distillery is in a industrial park close by but The Mouse has never explored. No reason to until now.
Door
Owned and operated by veterans, big plus.
Recipe includes using the whiskey mash, interesting.
The Cat is rushing to meet deadlines. The Mouse working at home. The Mouse eats.
Fried Chicken and Cornbread
Both from the grocery store.
Apple
The Mouse finally finished the bag of green apples. Whew. Just a little tart for The Mouse. The Mouse opinion, raw green apples definitely “eat to live” choice, red apples more along the “live to eat” scale. 🙂
The Cat and The Mouse running errands across the mountain. Brunch at Anna Miller’s.
The Place
According to something The Mouse read, there used to be a chain of restaurants mostly in Japan, and one in SPAM Land. As of August 31, 2022, the last of the restaurants in Japan will close leaving the SPAM Land location the last bastion.
The Mouse ordered.
Chili Pot Pie
Also on the menu was chicken pot pie but the cream gravy scared The Mouse. Order came with side salad and cornbread.
Cornbread
The chili was okay, the crust was fabulously flakey, made up for any deficiencies of the chili. Too bad The Mouse can’t try the pie crust with the creamed chicken.
The cornbread was split and grilled. Mmm.
The Cat ordered.
Omelet with Cornbread
Mushroom, tomato, and avocado. The stuffing was generous. The Cat thought the omelet needed a little more oil and salt.
The Cat and The Mouse couldn’t leave without trying a slice of pie.
Pecan Pie
Again, the crust, chef’s kiss, muah! The filling was pretty good too, not overly sweet.
