The Cat can eat at home now (a break from crazy tax season). The Mouse cleaned out the pantry for The Cat’s soupy bowl.

The Cat’s Soupy Bowl

Pork broth, with pork belly, bamboo shoot, mushroom, white stem cabbage, dried ramen noodle, sea salt, egg drop at the last minute. Slurp!

The Cat picked up a hot dog from Costco for The Mouse. Warmed up the last of Chef H’s chili.

The Mouse’s Nom

Chili dog with fried pork skin (better than chips, maybe even better than fries). Big nom. ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy. Eat well.

Rice!

Yesterday was comfort food day for The Mouse (and looking for Valentine’s Day present for The Cat).

Vegetable Curry Rice, Side Salad

Really wanted tofu pudding from Yajima-ya. Alas, not served for lunch, dinner only. Sigh.

Yuzu Sorbet

Yuzu Sorbet

“Settled” for yuzu sorbet (from Japan). Actually, probably ended up being better, nice palate cleaner after the spicy curry. Still want tofu pudding and Japanese sponge cake though. Maybe one night when waiting for The Cat to finish I can pop in for dessert.

Dinner, another rice and “gravy” thing. Wanted Zippy’s vegetarian chili (one of my favorite) with rice and hot dog. Too far, “settled” for mini chili dog plate from L&R.

Not bad, L&R does decent Chinese take-out food, their chili is so-so, but convenient.

Trying to get this off as soon as possible, been experiencing winds and power outages today.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Chili Dog

A truncated post today. The Cat and I had lunch with a very distinguished friend to pick his brain for a project we are thinking of doing. I had to be a bit discreet in taking pictures. Didn’t know what he would think if I started taking pictures of everyone’s food.

We went here. I started with a glass of strawberry lemonade.

Strawberry Lemonade

For lunch, I ordered the hearts of romaine lettuce and the chili dog (here’s the menu).

Smoked Kobe Beef Chili Dog

I requested no cheese on the chili dog because 1) I don’t really care for cheese on my hot dog, chili, nor hamburger (a taste and texture preference), and 2) dairy products and my stomach don’t see eye to eye on things (I know TMI).

The chili dog was great. The chili had just enough heat to make it interesting. The ale provided a rich depth of flavor. ย The drawback was that the chili kind of overwhelmed the hot dog for me to appreciate that it was Kobe beef. The potato chips tasted house made, thick cut and very little salt. The lemonade provided the perfect palate cleanser.

I would definitely order the chili dog again, but next time I will request the chili on the side. I wonder if the chips can be ordered as a side. ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy.
