Both nearby grocery stores now offer Aloha Friday plates. The Mouse was planning on getting one for lunch but got “distracted”.

Ended up getting Aloha Friday “sides” for dinner.

Chicken Long Rice

The Cat’s dinner. One advantage of getting sides is that more quantity of what you want. Not a pretty picture but tasty.

Lau Lau

The Mouse’s dinner. Mmm.

Be safe and well.

One of those days, mainly, internet went down, and The Mouse had to get an MRI. But, dinner was good. Zippy’s.

Daily special.

Portuguese Bean Soup, Iced Tea

.

Chicken Long Rice, Brown Rice

Now, this dish was something. The Mouse doesn’t usually go for the chicken long rice (tends to be overcooked and the chicken dry — breast meat). The chef/cook did right. Thigh meat, nicely salted, shredded. Almost fooled The Mouse, could’ve been kalua pork. That good. Compliments to the kitchen.

Hope the put this on the regular menu.

Hopefully back to normal, but you never know.

Enjoy. Eat well.

So, The Cat likes soupy, gushy dishes. Most dishes with soup or gravy, The Cat is there.

Last night, The Mouse picked up a lau lau plate from the neighborhood grocery store.

Lau Lau Plate

Rice, lau lau, chicken long rice, sweet potato. Deli counter ran out of lomi salmon and haupia. At least The Mouse got the essentials.

The Mouse ate the rice and lau lau. Froze the sweet potato for The Cat’s bento next week, chicken long rice got added to The Cat’s jook for din din.

The Cat’s Frankenbowl

Shanghai cabbage for greens, spicy bamboo shoot garnish.

The Cat liked. Soupy, mushy, gushy.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Aloha Friday. Picked up a take-out from the neighborhood grocery store.

You’ve seen this before.

A combo for just over ten bucks? Almost unheard of. I guess the grocery store has economies of scale or some other economic factor in play.

Hawaiian Combo Plate

Kalua pork, sweet potato, chicken long rice (under the sweet potato), haupia, lomi salmon, and lau lau. Small drink included. What a deal!

The sweet potato got put away for The Cat’s lunch next week (in the freezer), the chicken long rice went into The Cat’s dinner bowl (see picture below), the haupia is The Cat’s breakfast today, The Mouse scarfed the kalua pork, lau lau, and lomi salmon for dinner. 🙂

The Cat is not that crazy about Aloha Friday food as much as The Mouse. She got a “clean the refrig” bowl.

The Cat’s Bowl

Using the chicken long rice as a “base”, added dried seaweed (reconstituted), Korean rice cake, cucumber, and a drop or two of toasted sesame seed oil.

Everybody’s happy.

Heading out to yum cha today. The Cat is taking her mother, The Mouse is tagging along as driver.

Enjoy. Eat well.

The Mouse.
