The Cat went to the office yesterday. The Mouse stayed home, helping year-end accounting for one of her clients.
The Mouse’s quick dinner.
Hand Food
Pita bread, slice of SPAM, leftover fatty charsiu from The Cat’s lunch on Saturday, napa cabbage. Everything in the toaster over for five minutes. Mmm. 🙂
The Mouse, running errands yesterday, forgot it’s the start of an extended weekend. Traffic terrible. Ugh!
The lunch I wanted would probably not be reachable with the traffic. Settled for a Chinese take-out underneath a Safeway supermarket.
Roast Duck and Char Siu on Rice with Choi Sum
Half of the rice and all of the duck and greens went to The Cat’s bento for next week (freezer) and her soup last night.
The Mouse finished the rest of the rice and all of the char siu (it was late afternoon by the time The Mouse ate). Because The Mouse was hungry, he also ordered an order of crispy gau gee.
Crispy Gau Gee
One of the errands was to drop something off to Chef. He gave us a pan of the staff meal he prepared.
Baked Meat Pasta, Loaf of Bread
The Mouse thinks Chef used shortrib for the meat. Mmm!
And to be complete, The Cat’s lunch.
Seafood Pasta
The Cat said there was more seafood than pasta (a good thing).
The Mouse had another doctor’s appointment yesterday. Since he was in town, The Cat sent him on an errand. By the time The Mouse was finished, it was lunch time. Between lunch hour traffic, one way streets, and construction, The Mouse couldn’t get to a few places to take-out. Finally landed at Asian Mix, picked up a roast duck and char siu on rice plate.
Roast Duck, Char Siu, Rice, Choi Sum
Huge portion, reasonably priced. The Mouse barely ate a quarter. Half of the duck, about half of the rice, and a lot of the choi sum went into The Cat’s bento for the next day. Half of the duck and a few stalks of choi sum went to The Cat’s dinner noodle bowl.
Noodle Bowl
Along with spaghetti pasta and canned bamboo shoots.
Another quarter of the rice portion and the remaining char siu is for The Mouse’s lunch today. 🙂
Priced out, each portion comes to three dollars and change. Not bad, “cheap eats”.
So a week ago was mooncake day? Both The Cat and The Mouse were too busy. Plus hard to go to Chinatown.
The Mouse picked up some take-out yesterday. In The Mouse’s mind, worthy substitutes, Hee hee.
Fried Mochi Balls
Two bite sized. Perfect. No, The Mouse did not eat them all in one sitting. Warms up great in the toaster oven. The Cat is refraining, still on antibiotics.
Of course, The Mouse made a meal. Hee hee again.
Rice Cake, Char Siu Manapua
One last “must have”, according to The Mouse. 🙂
