Sunset Dinner

Valentines’ Day is tomorrow. The probability of dinner on Monday is zero to nil. Saturday dinner instead.

Sunset
Sashimi / Sushi

Hamachi sashimi and ikura nigiri. The hamachi was really fresh.

Salad

Sensei Farms Lettuce: Avocado, tomatoes, sesame seeds, tofu croutons, fresh herbs, edamame, wafu dressing. Mmm. Good salad.

Kona Kampachi

The Mouse thinks roasted, included snap peas (underneath) (no picture). One of the best preparations of snap peas The Mouse has tasted (his opinion). The server substituted rice out of regard that dairy might be in the potatoes. Much thanks.

Roasted Pacific Sea Bass

Kabocha squash, Thrive Farmโ€™s bekana, yuzu shichimi dressing. The Cat traded the bekana for The Mouse’s snap peas, a little hard for The Cat to chew.

Desserts

Macadamia Cake: Marinated pineapple, rum, coconut gelato (on the side).

Chocolate Cremeux: Hawaiian sea salt, cookie crunch, vanilla chantilly cream (on the side), chocolate sauce.

The Mouse liked the cake, The Cat favored the cremeux. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay safe and well.

Eat Dessert First

Hee hee!

Pineapple Snack Cake

From Zippy’s. Kinda pound cake-y, lighter and fluffier. Not enough pineapple. Still good though.

Apple Pie

Also from Zippy’s. Sorry, The Mouse took the picture from the wrong side.

Good news is that The Cat is cleared from quarantine. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay safe and well.

Dessert

Final installment, dessert.

Frozen Kona geisha coffee pie: black chocolate crust, manjari chocolate crunch, burnt hazelnut custard, vanilla bean whipped cream, nutella powder. Think mudd pie, but different. it was good, but The Mouse thinks The Cat still likes mudd pie better.

Strawberry yuzu sorbet with fruit and cereal crunchies. The Mouse was happy. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Cat’s complimentary cake — red velvet. We took home for later. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Subtitle: Candle Time.

Newly discovered restaurant for The Cat and The Mouse. Basalt. So far, excellent service (telephone and curbside), good, honest food.

Miso Black Cod

Steamed white rice, vegetable medley, dashi nage. Vegetables were mushrooms and Shanghai cabbage. The Cat liked.

Pork Belly Buns

Charcoal bao buns, pickled vegetables, hoisin sriracha sauce. The Mouse liked. The pickled vegetables (bahn mi like) were killer.

Guava Lilikoi Layered Cake

Vanilla sponge cake, guava lilikoi mousse, raspberry sauce, mixed berries. Luckily The Mouse had a package of candles in the junk drawer. ๐Ÿ™‚

When things settle back to “normal”, The Cat and The Mouse want to try a sit-down at the place. Nom!

Stay safe and well.

Sidetracked

But first, update on the pork foot soup.

Solidified Beautifully

Yesterday. First day of classes on campus. Cashiers have to operate their window constantly. As a show of “unity”, no one goes out for lunch.ย Office buys lunch in. The Mouse ordered vegetarian chili.

Office also brought in desserts and snacks (co-worker’s b-day).

Cake

And

Fruit

After eating the cake and fruit, The Mouse was too full for the chili. Took it home for dindin.

The Mouse’s Dinner Plate

Hollowed out baked potato (from Sunday’s lunch), filled with sun-dried tomato, the potato “inside”, topped with Zippy’s vegetarian chili. Nom! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today is supposed to be more of the same, just no “free” lunch. Sigh.

Enjoy. Eat well.
