The Cat and The Mouse try try, Akira Japanese Restaurant. The Mouse feels half Japanese restaurant, half izakaya.

Braised Tendon with Turnip
Caviar Sushi

Not sturgeon caviar, flying fish, salmon, uni, and something else The Mouse couldn’t identify. Try try.

The butterfish was well prepared. The Cat liked. 🙂

The Cat has approved a future return. 🙂

Fish Fry

Grocery store sold out of the bento The Mouse was looking for, visited two in the neighborhood. “Settled” for a container of fried butterfish.

Fried Butterfish

The Mouse thinks pieces are “leftover” after the filets are used for bento. The Mouse tried a piece, super crispy, almost like a chip. Not bad.

“Assembled” The Cat’s bento, rice, roasted yam, scrambled egg, fried butterfish, and boiled Napa cabbage. The Cat will report feedback.

Be safe and well.

The Mouse bought The Cat a bento from the grocery store last week. Timing was off. Bento went into the freezer.

Tic-Tac-Toe Bento

Maki sushi, sesame mochi balls, pickled cucumber, simmered burdock root, potato croquette, fried gyoza, steamed rice with furikake, inari sushi, and butterfish.

Yesterday, The Mouse thawed out the bento, packed the rice and butterfish into her bento today (she can microwave it). The Mouse lightly steamed the maki sushi and inari sushi and lightly toasted the potato croquette and sesame mochi ball for lunch. The gyoza, burdock, and cucumbers went into The Cat’s chicken foot (one foot) soup.

The Cat comes home for dinner since tax season is taking a break. “Light soup” is the special of the day.

One chicken foot, wood-ear fungus, fresh ginger, and coconut vinegar to simmer. Soba noodles and white stem cabbage just before service, The cucumber, burdock root, and gyoza to finish.

Chicken Foot Soup

Oh yeah, a splash of whiskey to get the soup happy. Hee hee.

Be safe and well.

Dunno if it is the season but The Mouse has been eating more fish (not canned sardines or tuna) lately.

Fish Filet with Choi Summ

One of the lunch specials from the neighborhood chop suey. Price slightly reduced with rice included. The Mouse thought the fish would be steamed, but turned out fried. Still tasty, although The Mouse would probably not order too often.

Salmon Bento

Although The Mouse shared a portion with The Cat, The Mouse ate the majority.

Butterfish Bento

The Cat’s lunch.

All of the meals were kinda cheap eats, especially in light of the recent rise in turmoil.

Stay safe and well.

The Cat suggested eating out for lunar new year eve (not Chinese). Japanese and pho combination place, close enough.

The Cat’s order:

Butterfish Misoyaki

The Mouse’s order:

Garlic Tofu

Both meals came with miso soup, salad, and rice. Separate dishes. That’s why the Manago Hotel plating. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.
