So, The Mouse picked up a part-time job at a family-owned catering company for the tax season. Pick up some pocket money and keep The Mouse out of trouble while The Cat goes through her tax season. Hee hee.

The Mouse had a bit of time between chiropractor appointment and reporting to work … Brunch!

“Drive Inn”

Food’s pretty good, The Mouse mostly goes for the green river.

Green River

Old school (not carbonated), small-kid time treat. 🙂

Fried Rice, Easy Over Eggs, Grilled Hot Dogs

Another small-kid time memory. SPAM and hot dogs!

Dinner was a try try thingy, picked up while doing some grocery shopping.

Why did The Mouse buy it, dunno, try try. Hee hee.

Seasoned Cabbage

Taste was okay, texture was too mushy for The Mouse’s palate.

Are you watching Super Bowl today? Is your team playing? The Mouse may watch only for the commercials. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Several weeks ago, thought we found a new breakfast spot in the neighborhood, Kamalei Kitchen. Returned a couple of weeks later, completely closed shop. No explanation. Sigh.

Several weeks pass and another sign goes up, Kalawe Cafe now open. Turns out, the two owners are related. First owner felt overwhelmed. First-time restaurateurs.

Decided to check it out this past weekend. Menus are very similar.

The Cat tried an omelet.

Spinach, Mushroom, Tomato Omelet with Toast

Two eggs instead of three. No leftovers.

The Mouse tried their riff on the loco moco.

Kapoho Moco

Corned beef hash patties instead of hamburger patties.

House Made Corned Beef Hash Patty

The Mouse liked. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.

Daily Bread

Since lunch “adventures” are temporarily suspended due to closing of the accounting books, The Mouse thought to try a different tactic yesterday. Try to pick up a sandwich or something on the way into work.

Problem was some of the bakeries along the way weren’t open that early (same for the Korean grocery store). Finally, something that was open and not fast food.

Kinda “hole-in-the-wall-ish”. Right next to a Chinese herbalist store. Parking in the back was funny.

Customer Parking

Limited choices, a few mini danish, bread wasn’t ready, some pre-made sandwiches, but, they were open.

The Mouse’s breakfast.

Danish, Cinnamon Roll, Dried Plum

The pastries were okay. I think the bakery bought them frozen (maybe French Gourmet?) and baked on site.

The Mouse also picked up a salami sandwich for lunch.

Salami Sandwich

The sandwich bag came with condiments.

Mustard, Mayo, and Salad Dressing

The mustard and the mayo went into the community bowl in the office refridge. Used a bit of the salad dressing.

The Mouse’s Sandwich

The Mouse doesn’t like sandwiches that are too soggy, just moist.

Overall, the sandwich was not bad, better than fast food, not gourmet, salad dressing was a nice touch. Limited selection kinda prevents The Mouse from visiting frequently. But, once in a while.

Happy Friday!

Enjoy. Eat well.

Ham Day

And bacon. Hee hee.

Started with breakfast. The Mouse had a coupon. Buy the “hash brown” and coffee, sandwich is free.

Ham Croissant Breakfast Sandwich and Hash Brown

All for just under $4 bucks. Pake mouse. Hee hee.

Lunch was a made-to-order ham sandwich from Honey Glazed Hams of Hawai‘i.

Sandwich in Process

Not paper-thin slices. Thick and tender cuts.

Ham Sandwich

In the afternoon, an unexpected treat from one of the bosses.

Bacon Donut and Cream Pastry

Ham and bacon day!

Enjoy. Eat well.
