Waste not, want not. The leftover pork shank, and meat was used to its ultimate end.

Pork Shank Bowl

Rice, pork shank meat, kabocha. The extra Bulldog tonkatsu sauce kicked it up. The Mouse’s lunch. Mmm!

The Cat’s Bento

Rice, Brussels sprouts, pork shank meat, kabocha, roasted sweet potato. The bento container fully loaded.

Our server packed the bones separate. Good job!

Shank Bone

The Mouse simmered for hours with ginger and vinegar to make a broth.

Pork Shank Broth

Frozen vegetables and canned bamboo shoot to finish. The Cat was even able to dig out marrow from the bone. 🙂

Be safe and well. \ooo/

The local grocery store is now owned by a large Japanese company. The Mouse didn’t know this until the store started to stock different items. The Mouse try try a pack of tinned tuna.

Canned Tuna

Cans are smaller than what The Mouse is used to, but nice individual portioned.

Opened

The Mouse did a “throw everything in and pray for the best” kinda bowls.

The Mouse’s Bowl

Mini pasta shells, frozen vegetables, wakame, tuna.

The tuna tasted a little saltier than “normal”, maybe because there is MSG in the ingredients? Overall, the tuna was okay, did not knock The Mouse’s slippers off. 🙂

Be safe and well.

Hee hee.

The Mouse, kinda playing with his food. Made a broth/soup/stew from wood-ear fungus, canned shiitake mushrooms, wakame, dried shrimp, frozen soybeans, and sea salt. Poured the concoction over the leftover shrimp tempura.

The Mouse’s “Kraken Bowl”

Eat while watching 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, League of Extrodinary Gentlemen, Clash of Titans (the Sam Worthington version), or Aquaman. Hee hee.

Be safe and well.

Spiral pasta, napa cabbage, frozen mixed vegetables, pan-fried salmon (previously frozen). Not soup, just soupy. Hee hee.

No recipe, just assembly. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

The Cat and The Mouse have not eaten food from Chile Relleno for over a year due to the thing that cannot be named. The Mouse checked and they finally reopened. Ordered take-out.

The Cat’s Bowl

Carnitas, Mexican rice, refried beans, edamame, olives, salsa, Romaine lettuce, and probably other ingredients that The Mouse missed. Think Mexican style mixed rice.

The Mouse’s Bowl

Chile verde (pork simmered in mild spicy tomatillo verde sauce), all other ingredients as above. Mmm.

Because it was take-out, the Romaine lettuce wilted just a bit, The Mouse did not mind. More than enough food for The Cat and The Mouse to pack weekday lunch. 🙂

Stay safe and well.
