Comfort Foods

The Cat and The Mouse haven’t eaten BiBimBap for a while. Sunday lunch.

The Cat’s order.

Stone Pot BiBimBap

The Mouse’s.

Non-Stone Pot BiBimBap

The Mouse prefers the non-stone pot option. The vegetables stay crispy, but he does miss out on the crispy rice. Hee hee.

Soft Tofu Soup

Because The Cat was in the mood. Not too spicy, good for The Mouse.

Savory Steamed Egg Custard

Because why not. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Saturday Eats

A couple of errands, car service, grocery shopping, nap.

While waiting for car to be serviced.

Bacon and Egg Biscuit, Fries

Hanabata days, The Mouse didn’t really care for biscuits (English muffins were the bomb). Now, old-kine days, The Mouse has changed and appreciates biscuits (English muffins are still the bomb). Super stuffed, maybe The Mouse shouldn’t have agreed to the fries.

Lunch was light.

Fruit

Yellow kiwi and Satsuma orange with a diet cola.

Dinner was “back to normal”.

Spicy Pork Bibimbap

The marinated mushroom were nom! The Cat got the egg (since The Mouse had one for breakfast).

Stay safe and well.

Maybe a little lost in translation? Place has been on our “to try” list for a bit.

Front

Started with chop chae, The Cat used to like this stuff, haven’t had it in awhile.

Chop Chae

Not bad.

The Cat also tried Makgeolli (막걸리).

Makgeolli (막걸리)

Description from here: https://www.90daykorean.com/korean-alcohol/

Makgeolli is the original Korean alcohol – but it’s still a favorite in Korean bars and restaurants for good reason!

Makgeolli is a think, sweet rice wine that is sweet and tangy with a touch of carbonation to pull the drink together. In recent years, makgeolli has started becoming popular with the younger crowd when paired with a fruit cocktail to make it slightly sweeter.

Of course, we had to have Bibimbap.

Bibimbap

This version was different from what The Mouse and The Cat are used to, rice was served separately. Interesting. The Mouse thinks everything together is better.

Since The Cat seems to have a liking for soups.

Ox Knee Soup

The Cat and The Mouse knows this as beef tendon soup. Maybe a little translation. Not bad, light, tendon cooked sorta soft.

Given the opportunity, The Mouse want to go back to try their mandoo. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Mixed Rice

Comfort food for The Mouse. After another doctor appointment, which he kept me waiting almost an hour, hunting and gathering soup ingredients, The Mouse was starving.

Bibimbap

With spicy pork. Nom!

Did The Mouse mention he was starving? Also ordered a side of steamed egg (first time trying for The Mouse?)

Steamed Egg

In the words of Agnes, “it’s so fluffy!” Think chawanmushi souffle. The Mouse was happy. The micro diced raw carrots on top could’ve gone (texturally weird with the soft “custard), but otherwise, really good.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Rice Bowls

Sunday. No Mudd pie this time. The Cat’s trying to lose a perceived spare tire. The Mouse gave up a long time ago.

Spicy Pork Bibimbap

The Cat’s.

Assorted Banchan

.

Beef Bibimbap

The Mouse’s

Well balanced, rice, vegetables, protein. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
