Restricted Diet

The Mouse has to have some medical scanning done (I dunno what, so confused). Anyways, from 1:00 PM on, only protein today (no carbs, no sugar, only water, salt and pepper okay). Oh well, could be worse.

Yesterday, The Mouse bought pork and beef chunks (cuts for pork adobo and beef stew).

Pork Chunks
Beef Chunks

The Mouse seared the chunks, drained the excess fat, then poached them in a mixture of olive oil and water.

Oil Poached Pork
Oil Poached Beef

The pork turned out a little better than the beef, maybe not quite enough liquid. Still good though.

After tomorrow, The Mouse is probably gonna need a laxative (sorry, TMI). Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

The Mouse

P.S. The pork is mostly for The Cat, but The Mouse will eat some too. The beef is primarily for The Mouse, maybe exclusively.

Lunches from the nearby grocery store.

Stuffed Pollock, Grilled Beef

The Mouse didn’t realize the fish had cheese in it until too late. The lactase pill sorta helped but The Mouse still experienced a little (tiny bit) tummy discomfort. Sigh. The Mouse did enjoy the meal, just suffered a little afterward.

Roast Beef with Gravy, Furikake Salmon

The Mouse enjoyed this meal too. No dairy this time. 🙂

Usually, The Mouse would save some of the fish for The Cat but in these instances, The Cat would consider these fish overcooked. The Cat can be fussy with seafood, very cat-like. Hee hee.

So, both lunches total cost a little over 5 dollars total each meal. Cheap eats.

Stay safe and well.

Eating over the weekend. Little Joe’s Steakhouse opened just before the shut-down from the thing that cannot be named. Their happy hour menu is pretty extensive and interesting.

First time trying, The Cat and The Mouse kinda over ordered.

Spicy Negi Toro

Minced tuna mixed with spicy sauce, over rice, toasted nori. Easier to chew. Hee hee. An order again item.

Avocado Toast

Toast, avocado, tomato. Okay.

Seafood Bisque
Grilled Asparagus

The Mouse thinks that in order to have the asparagus at a consistent length, some of the bottoms were not trimmed enough, The Cat had biting/chewing issues.

Steak Tips

Very tender meat, The Mouse’s favorite, The Cat didn’t mind the dish. Definite order again.

Fish Taco

Dish was okay.

Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée

Light and refreshing, there was a key lime vibe going.

When we return, if we don’t try other items on the menu, the spicy negi toro and the steak tips will be definite contenders. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Also known as “throw everything in the pot/bowl” meal. But since it’s October … Hee hee.

To begin, yesterday’s massive plate lunch.

Plate Lunch

Bulgogi, galbi, BBQ chicken, sides, and rice. Enough for at least 2 1/2 (or more) meals. Warehouse owner continues to support small business customers by partially paying for Wednesday lunches. Good deal.

The Mouse’s bowl last night, a little bit of lunch, a little bit of roast pork and char siu (see previous post), a little bit of freezer vegetable, and a little bit of freezer won ton.

The Mouse’s Bowl

Nom! Missing two bolts, lightening, and kamaboko. Hee hee.

For color, The Mouse’s fruit dish.

Fruit

Yellow kiwi and Mandarin orange. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

The Cat’s lunch the other day.

Beef Stir-Fry

From an Irish pub/restaurant. Go figure.

The Cat said the dish was well cooked.

The Mouse is not surprised. Many moons ago, when The Mouse was small-kid time, there used to be two shops, owned by the same Chinese man, one sold fish and chips, and one sold pastrami and corned beef sandwiches.

The Mouse dunno how “authentic” the food was, tasted great. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.
