The Mouse drove The Cat to work again, her car still being repaired. On the way back, The Mouse picked up bao buns in Chinatown.

Char Siu, Vegetable, and Sweet Potato, Pork Hash and Half Moons

The Mouse shared the vegetable and sweet potato bao buns with The Cat, ate the rest. 🙂 Nom!

Also picked up dessert.

Steamed Rice Cake

And, a little something for The Cat’s lunch.

Stuffed Bitter Melon with Rice (Mini Plate)

A good eating day!

Stay safe and well.

Bun Day

The Mouse ate …

Steamed Bao Buns

One char siu manapua and two sesame paste bao buns. Mmm.

And in keeping with the unintentional Sesame Street theme, The Mouse also ate …

Beets

Already peeled and cooked. Saved The Mouse from staining the kitchen red. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

From the previous post, The Mouse saw pics of beef stew with tendon (Chinese style) from a hole in the wall Chinese chop suey house near the warehouse where The Mouse works. Parking is an issue, especially during weekday commuting hours (tow away zone).

The Mouse specifically drove to town to try yesterday.

Beef Stew with Tendon on Rice

Not bad, quantity was huge, two meals, dinner for The Mouse, bento for The Cat, very tender. The Mouse didn’t get to try the tendon went to The Cat’s bento. Priced decently. Could’ve been a little more aggressively seasoned. The Mouse couldn’t detect any five-spice seasoning. But that’s just The Mouse. Also, not sure the beef was brisket, little too lean. But, try try.

The Mouse also ordered char siu bao buns, relatively cheap.

Char Siu Buns

The Mouse added shiso leaves (the maybe last remnants for this season). Dunno, but the buns somehow remind me of Audry II? Any resemblance is unintentionally coincidental. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

The Cat and The Mouse finally gets to try Momosan, Iron Chef Morimoto’s take on ramen.

Napkin

,

Appetizers

From the menu:

Kakuni bao 角煮サンド braised pork belly, lettuce, mustard mayo.

Softshell bao ソフトシェルクラブサンド tempura softshell crab, lettuce, pickled cucumber, spicy mayo.

Good to try, a little pricey, one and done.

The Cat’s Noods

Again, from the menu: momosan duck ramen モモさん ダックラーメン house roasted duck breast, cilantro, scallion, sliced white onion, duck broth, green onion, bean sprout, nori, ajitama. The Cat liked. 🙂

The Mouse’s Sampler Tray

Once more from the menu: tokyo chicken 東京チキン steamed chicken, aji-tama, menma, seared garlic chive, kikurage, toasted nori, soy tare; zuke don 漬けマグロ丼 soy marinated tuna, nori and scallion over rice.

Both were nom.

A definite return spot. 🙂

Saturday morning, lotsa running around.

Doctor appointment,

Walmart (The Cat’s instant noodles), tax season almost over.

Some Chinatown produce shopping,

Some bank stuff (long story.

Random pics.

Panda Buns

Filled with black sesame paste, picked them up at a stall while shopping for produce.

Fish Sandwich and Fries

Fast food.

Not one of The Mouse’s proudest moments, but got hungry running errands.

Okra Pickles

Last of the jar, from Picnics from the Vine, The Mouse’s favorite artisanal preserve maker. Pickles helped to cut the heaviness of the sandwich and fries.

Beef Broccoli

Dinner, from the neighborhood chop suey. The Mouse can only eat while The Cat is not around. Number 1, has beef, number 2, she doesn’t think beef broccoli is “Chinese” food. Oh well, The Mouse liked. 🙂

Taro Duck

Mostly for The Cat’s bento, plus, The Mouse was in the mood. Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
