The Mouse frequently does it, The Cat has fits. Hee hee.

Yesterday’s eating log.

Breakfast

Kalua pork and cabbage over rice. Could be lunch or dinner, The Mouse decided for breakfast 🙂

Lunch

Nico’s at Pier 38, supervisor treated the group.

Furikake Pan Seared Ahi: Fresh tuna Ahi steak coated with Japanese dried seaweed and sesame seeds then cooked to order, from rare to well done. Served with Nico’s ginger garlic cilantro dip.

Okay, this could be lunch, but The Mouse thinks more dinner.

Dinner got a little complicated. The Mouse was jonesing for bakery stuff. Dinner rolls.

First stop Zippy’s. No dinner rolls, but The Mouse was enticed with some of their offerings.

In the Box

Bread pudding, cornbread, pumpkin coffee cake, pumpkin donut (baked not fried), and a mochizada? Mochi flour made into a malasada-like pastry. Much less oil than a regular malasada (at least the ones from Leonard’s anyway), much denser. not bad. Buy again? Maybe.

A visit to old school institution on this side of the island.

Front Door

Cash only, no checks, no credit/debit cards. Old school.

A package of dinner rolls.

Package

No individual, had to buy a dozen.

Must say though these are the bomb! Just buttery enough, soft, not soggy, probably not health food, but comfort food. Thumbs up, socks off.

Dinner Rolls

Also had a bowl of oatmeal, to make-up for breakfast. Hee hee.

Now, what to do with the rest of the package, hmm, maybe SPAM sliders or breakfast sliders. Nom!

Enjoy. Eat well.

Freaky Friday

Commuting traffic was a parking lot. Took the back roads. A detour for breakfast.

It was this or a breakfast sandwich at Subway (which would have cost more).

Fried Fish, "Fried Rice", Three Eggs, Brown Gravy

Fried Fish, “Fried Rice”, Three Eggs, Brown Gravy

Dish was okay, kinda hard to mess up with breakfast. The brown gravy on the fish was a little weird (freaky), and the fried rice only contained frozen peas and carrots, no SPAM, Portuguese sausage, or the like. Cheap enough though.

After that relatively large breakfast, lunch was a dilemma. Plan was to pick up a sandwich at the new Foodland Farms at the mall, but I got distracted. Went to JJ2 Bakery first to pick up my current favorite wheat bread.

Their chicken salad sandwich in the cold case looked pretty good. Foodland for another day.

Wintermelon Iced “Tea”

A perfect “afternoon tea” snack/lunch. And a loaf of bread too. Happy Mouse. 🙂

Chicken Salad Sandwich Detail

Chicken chunks, dried cranberry, celery, walnuts, a smidgen of mayo. Big yum!

The Cat also had a “detour” lunch. She planned to explore the newish Japan Walk but experienced “sticker shock”. She ended up at Foodland Farms.

Dinner was late. Not super late, but late enough. The Cat wanted something simple and “soupy”. Got into AJ’s a few minutes before closing.

Jook with Mung Bean

Jook with Mung Bean

The Mouse got a “clean the pans” plate “lunch”.

A Little Bit of Everything

A Little Bit of Everything

Not quite sure what I got (some fish, some chicken, some lion head, etc). Local Mouse “freaky” style. Kinda what happens at potlucks here. Hee hee.

Have a good weekend.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Not all together.

Saturday, The Cat still dealing with difficult clients and crisis files. Not as bad as tax season, but still bad.

The Mouse, some play, some work.

“Breakfast” was remnants of The Cat’s lunch on Friday.

Pork Roast with Pesto Stuffing Mashed Potato Sauteed Spinach

Mashed Potato
Sauteed Spinach

Very tasty. May try the chef’s Saturday prix fixe meal dinner soon.

Checked out a “store” that used to be in the mall, but left (dunno why), now in warehouse space.

Since 1900

Since 1900

Less of a store, more of a “garage sale”. Recently opened after years of silence. Owner is getting up there age-wise. maybe trying to sell off inventory (all old stock, nothing new) before …

Bought a nice set of chopsticks.

Chopsticks

Chopsticks

Not sure if supplier is still in existence. Nice crafting. Trying to decide whether to keep them or use them. Leaning toward using them to celebrate the craftsmanship.

Lunch.

Ham Sandwich

Ham Sandwich

From Honey Glazed Hams of Hawaii. I know for variety, but why would anyone order anything else but a hams sandwich  from a place called Honey glazed Hams of Hawaii? Just wondering.

Dinner, back at Sweet Home Aunty, comfort food at its best.

Kabocha Soup with Rice

Kabocha Soup with Rice

The Cat is falling in love with the rice topping.

The Mouse's Stir-Fry

The Mouse’s Stir-Fry

New preparation on the menu, stir-fry with rice (instead of soup). Cilantro, green onions, and ginger onion sauce from the condiment bar. Can you tell The Mouse likes cilantro, green onions, and green onion ginger sauce? Camouflage. Hee hee.

A little sweet to end the meal and day.

Shave Ice with Coffee Jelly and Red Beans

Shave Ice with Coffee Jelly and Red Beans

Dined kinda late, the other colorful jelly were gone. That’s okay, coffee jelly and red beans turned out to be a good mix if not photogenic.

Plus a public service announcement. Sweet Home Aunty now closed on Tuesdays … too tired. 🙂

Enjoy. Eat well.
