Oxtail Ramen

Long time ago, there used to be a “diner” in a bowling alley. Great oxtail soup. The bowling alley closed and location became a chain pharmacy.

Nearby the now gone bowling alley, another long time diner closes and the bowling alley diner takes over. Kam Bowl Restaurant.

A lighter option on the menu. Oxtail ramen, not as big as oxtail soup, not as many tail segments, ramen noodles instead of rice. Cheaper too.

Oxtail Ramen

Quickly became one of The Cat’s new favorite.

The Mouse ordered chicken stir-fry. Another “signature” dish of the diner.

Chicken Stir-Fry

Mmm! Lots of veggies. Their sauce is also winner. 🙂

Dessert.

The Cat also “found” another favorite.

Pumpkin Crunch, Jello

Not photogenic, but The Cat liked the pumpkin crunch, the jello mold had a few pieces of canned fruit, bonus. Mmm.

The Cat agreed revisits are necessary. 🙂

Be safe and well.

Unplanned. Original plan was Ruby Tuesday, but the kitchen was short-handed and backed up. Next door to Big City Diner.

Vegetable Stir-Fry, White Rice

Both The Cat and The Mouse order. There is a shoyu-ginger “glaze” but The Mouse squirted a little yellow mustard and ketchup, and a sprinkle of black pepper. Mmm 🙂

Because dinner was healthy, The Mouse balanced with an order of apple pie.

Apple Pie, Whipped Cream on the Side

The Mouse thinks this is the best apple pie. Two puff pastry squares sandwiching a generous scoop of apple pie filing with raisins. Mmm again. 🙂 🙂

Be safe and well.

Time Saver

The Mouse wanted vegetables, specifically a stir-fry. For The Mouse to get all the variety of vegetables and prep/cut-up would be kinda time consuming. Luckily, a nearby diner has a vegetable stir-fry dish with rice.

Vegetable Stir-Fry

The seasoning is ginger, garlic, shoyu. Mmm. There is an option to add protein but The Mouse likes it plain. Portion is enough for at least two servings for The Mouse. Dish is kinda prohibitive for The Cat, some of the vegetable variety are onions and bell peppers (does not play well with The Cat’s digestion). But The Mouse did dig out the jicama to add to her bento.

Stay safe and well.

The Cat’s lunch the other day.

Beef Stir-Fry

From an Irish pub/restaurant. Go figure.

The Cat said the dish was well cooked.

The Mouse is not surprised. Many moons ago, when The Mouse was small-kid time, there used to be two shops, owned by the same Chinese man, one sold fish and chips, and one sold pastrami and corned beef sandwiches.

The Mouse dunno how “authentic” the food was, tasted great. Hee hee.

Stay safe and well.

Campus welcomed a new president yesterday. Previous one retired a couple of months ago. Of course, there has to be food.

Since it was in the morning, the food selection was more continental breakfast.

Fruits and Cookie

Pastries and coffee were also offered. The Mouse stayed relatively good and ate more fruits than sweets. 🙂

The Mouse must be getting old, the cookie ended up being too sweet. Able to only eat half.

And, staying on the “healthy train”…

Celery and Bitter Melon

Dinner was a vegetable sauté.

No recipe, just heat and toss.

Celery, Bitter Melon, Tomato Sauté.

If you squint really hard, the tomato almost looks like lup cheong (Chinese sausage). Hee hee.

Enjoy. Eat well.
