Poi Update

The Mouse went for blood test, no breakfast. The Mouse’s “brunch” after test.

Poi Brunch

With leftover bits and pieces of meat (baby back rib meat, Chinese roast pork, chicken finger). 🙂

Another half container of poi for today. Mmm.

Stay safe and well.

Poi! :)

Neighbor works at a grocery store. Batch of poi was about to expire, he got permission to take home. He distributed with neighbors. 🙂

Poi

The Mouse is not sure the process the poi company uses to prepare the poi but the poi stays fresh. The Mouse will eat today. Mmm. 🙂

Stay safe and well.

Samples

Yesterday at the warehouse, a lot of sampling.

Samples!

Patty? made from poi and taro leaves. Tastes great, looks not so much, kinda looked like cow stuff. Locally made sausage, corned beef (not locally made), and ham (not local). The Mouse’s favorite was the poi patty, and ham. Nom.

Later in the day, one of the meat managers brought in poi, pineapple, and lomi salmon. Why? Dunno. He did not buy it. Maybe from one of the suppliers? The Mouse did not look gift horse in mouth. Hee hee.

Pineapple

The Mouse passed on the lomi salmon, what! Dunno why, but since the operation, The Mouse has a slight aversion to onions, especially raw (used to love ’em). Side effect from anesthesia? Oh well, least of The Mouse’s concerns right now, deal with it later, maybe.

Enjoy. Eat well.

Poi and …

Aside from the obvious poi and lau lau, poi and kalua pork, poi and lomi salmon, poi and stew, may I suggest on of my favorite combinations?

Poi and scrambled eggs.

And then to “kick it up a notch”.

Scrambled Eggs and Fermented Poi

Scrambled Eggs and Fermented Poi

How did this combo come to be you may ask? I dunno, maybe one of those days I was too lazy to cook breakfast. Leftover scrambled eggs and poi in the refrig … why not?

Itʻs probably an acquired taste. Go try, maybe you like too. 🙂

Whatʻs your favorite food combinations?

Enjoy. Eat well.

More Poi

Yesterday, it was all about poi, for The Mouse anyway.

Campus cafe(teria) in hibernation, and now the drive in across the street took off for the holidays. Food pickings getting sparse, temporarily. A short hike to the nearest grocery store.

Poke and Poi Lunch

Poke and Poi Lunch

OMG! The poi was so fresh, it was sweet! Score! The poke was good too!

All Gone!

All Gone!

My only “complaint”, and it’s a minor one, the poi bowl had ridges on the bottom, hard to scoop all the poi out (I did think about licking, but … ).

Dinner, The Mouse finished the last of the sour poi with a tin of sardines.

Mmm!

Mmm!

You can kinda see the poi in the background.

The Cat also had a pretty good food day.
